I had Optimums Protein tested

Yeah Yeah I know this isn't the supplement board, but in case some of you don't run over there I thought you'd find this info interesting.

I had Optimum's 100% whey chocolate tested for purity. I also had their Protein diet checked as well.

Chocolate 100% whey had 75.7g protein per 100 grams

Label claims 74.82

Chocolate 100% whey had 360 calories per 100 grams

Label claims 374


Protein diet chocolate had 76.9g protein per 100g

Label claims 70g

Protein diet chocolate had 368 calories per 100g

Label claims 400


The testing was done by American Analytical Chemistry Labs. The method was AOAC.

Did you run a lab test on Protein Factory's cheap Whey concentrate by any chance???? They are very cheap and the service is ok, but I am not sure about the quality, since there is no label.

Also how much does it cost to lab check stuff???

I'm really interested in testing the ProteinFactory's protein.

If you take 1 scoop of 100% Whey Choc and 1 scoop of protein diet choc, mix it with 8oz of milk, that is deadly. I make that shake a lot for customers in the store. I have an island oasis machine and sometimes I'll add 2oz of banana....UNREAL taste.

See the thing is, the tests show it contains the right amount but it doesn't prove the quality of the protein. From what I've read, good quality protein shouldn't give you as much gas. I drink Optimum so I'm glad it at least contains the amount they claim

You have to look at it in a different light. You judge the quality of the protein by how "pure" it is. The chocolate runs 22g of protein per 29.4g scooper. The other flavors run the same amount of protein with a 28.4g scooper. That makes the product roughly 75% pure. When you compare vs other companies it is tough to find one that comes out better, especially for the price.

So right... optimum's strawberry is the absolute worst tasting powder I have ever tried. PERIOD.

However, I am being 'hardcore' and taking a scoop or so a day just to use it up... I don't want to be wasteful.

Yeah man, it is on temporary hold as I have a sample of Protein Factory protein being tested. It is cheaper to do 2 at one time, so that is what i'm doing. Look for results by mid next week.
