NOT cause of that your pervs :p

I had my first squat session in 4 months I needed to let of some steam and working legs always does that for me.

Anywho 4 months ago my 1 rep max was 185 I wanted to do that tonight sadly didn't happen. Here is what did happen:

95 x 12
115 x 8
135 x 5
155 x 2 then my ass got stuck I was so pissed at the time.
Finshed it off with 3 more sets of 135 x 3 ATF all the way.

Did some SDL light with DB's.

A bit more hammy work with standing curls.

Then a few sets of calfs.

Best part was walking down the stairs and holding on to the railing for dear llfe as I was afraid my legs might give out. Goddam I love the IRON.

haha my first thought when I saw the thread title is that some dude just got done pounding it!!!

good job on the workout, that's a tough one

hmmm i can't imagine that, unless you finished yourself off in the shower afterwards

I know how you feel. That's one of the things I loved about supplementing test, I could rape the hell out of my legs and I wouldn't be the least bit sore the next day, they actually seemed to gow overnight :)

fucking sally, you should at least wear a belt for singles

I agree, when you are doing a one rep max you should wear a belt. If you are training with a weight that you can do reps with then no, but when you are pushing so hard that you are stuck at the bottom you should be wearing a belt.

Why? If you don't mind explaining.

Video please :)

as for singles, better than a belt I'd suggest a spotter

For saftey reasons more than anything. Why take a chance of hurting yourself by straining so hard when you can use a belt for stability. I wouldn't recommend you use a belt every time you squat or dl, but when you plan on going to failure, pushing your body to a pt where you don't even really know if you will come back up.. its silly if you don't use one.

You need to strengthen your core, errectors, etc.. but to actually know what your max is you have to just put the weights on and do it. A belt will help in a lot of ways, but can also be an enemy if you completely rely on it.

I never max lift with out my belt, it helps me to push out and hold my air, stabalize me. All of my other lifts are done without but when i put something on that bar that may crush me, i would never do it without my belt.

why? i just use a rack and set the pins slightly below parallel...i always squat solo

IMO a belt is more likely to cause problems never used one and never would.

if you rely on it for every lift... yes it will

For your max attempts, its silly not to use one.

I remember when this chick and I used to workout together at the gym. We also worked together. So, there I was walking in one day and I knew that we worked out squats the day before.

"M, how's your ass?"
"C, Jesus Christ, its sore."

My manager never looked the same at us ever again and I had ALOT of explaining with my wife.

thats just silly

for a max attempt you should have both

But some feel like they are so much better if they squat blah blah with no belt... its silly. You put your self at danger if you try to be tough chick/guy that way. It won't do the lift for you but it can help you so that you don't injure yourself.

It is not about being tough IMO the pressure of belt has to go somewhere and IMO it is more likely to cause a hernia(sp?)

I agree, no belt for me also. Not for being macho sakes, but because if every other set I do not use a belt, then why in the hell would I want to suddenly use a belt for a max? My body is adapted to squatting without the use a belt, so suddenly using one for a max lift is silly imo. Either you use one all the time or you do not use one at all.

I know what I can squat for 4 reps, for 3 reps, for 2 reps, so for 1 rep it's not like I'd be doing a weight that is so far off base.

IMO, when you use a belt there is greater chance for a hernia as there is a tendency to strain even moreso due to the restriction of wearing that belt.

I wear my belt all the time. Especially those really tough treadmill workouts. That 15 incline can be a damn killer. OMG. I also wear gloves when on the elliptical so I can get a good grip for hanging on.

bench and bicep jockies do not understand.

Squat belts do a diservice to you ultimately as they weaken your back and abdominal muscles - you are more likely to get injured some other way.

My boss who was a strength coach was explaining how they try and discourage belt use in my gym now.

I respect everyones method of training,.... who is to say what is right or wrong. When i stick 300 on the bar i won't go down with out a belt. Thats just me. When i stick 185 for reps i have no issue with it.

I train my core and i train my back to withstand weight but i won't put my body on the line when it comes to a weight that I just don't know.

I don't use the belt as a crutch, and those that do are doing a diservice to theirselves.

I've talked to many strength coaches, pl'ing coaches and all have different beliefs. I look out for long term for me. Sure I want the 350lb squat but its not worth damaging my back to get it.

wow thats a hell of a squat!

you must have been really fat back in the day to have that sort of leg power!

(;))

your legs dont look like you havent squatted in 4 months
Trust me I haven't I been trying to bring them down but the size is not so much an issue as I was told my balance is not as off as I thought it was. So I am going to start squating again just need to increase my rep range. Yesterday was for myself for fun.
