I can't walk...no joke

2 days ago i tried an old calf routine that was published in a musclemag from about two years ago(i think it might have been written by nelson). It goes something like this...

Take your ten rep max on the standing calf raise and do 75 reps. How the hell do i do 75 if i can't do 10 your probably asking ???

Do as many reps as you can until total failure. after total failure stop until the burning resides and start over again. You may only be able to do 7 or 8 reps, but go until falure again. take another rest but only until the burning stops or 10 seconds max. Repeat this process until you have hit 75 reps resting only seconds at a time. By the end you'll only be able to do 2 reps per set.

The following day hurt, but the day after that was unbearable. I think i added 1" to my calves that day in puss, lymph and swelling.
Thanks Nelson.

I plan to stick with this calf routine for at lest a year and will take before and after shots for everyone.

My leg workout is tomorrow, I think I might give it a shot. You thin it would work for seated calve and donkey calve raises??

:) I've never tried it on the donkey calf raise, but i tried on the seated and it works aswell.

Warning: Be prepared to not be able to walk 2 days later.

Sounds like a jail house love story.

Has anyone else tried this sick calf routine???

I have done, but I only took 5 sec rests. The next day I was in pain. My calves weren't sore, they actually hurt. From what I understand though, this is more of a shock routine and should not be done very often.

wonder how it would work for every bodypart?
....................

This routine doesn't work as well for other bodyparts for the same reason it works so well for the calves. It's designed to hit Type II muscle fibers that are used to a lot of daily stress. i.e. the calves. (The forearms may be the only other body part) It's especially good if you have skinny, non responsive calves -- like me!

I tried every calve routine imaginable and they didn't grow a nanoinch in years. Once I discovered this worked so well I did it exclusively. One 4 minute set a week. I put 3 inches on my calves. They're still skinny, put hey, I'll take the 3 inches. :)

I know I should discuss this on the training board but it seems everyone over there already knows everything so I won't bother. I'm also sure somebody who had 20" calves but the time he was 12 will come on and claim that 50 sets of toe raises with 1000 pounds is the way to go. Whatever.

Everyone responds to this routine. If you want more like it, you know where to go. (hint, hint) :)

I haven't done this with calves, I'm going to try it this week though!!

I have done a similar workout with pullups. We decided on a number, I think it was 100, and did as many sets as it took to get to 100......oh my god this made my back so sore. I don't know how many sets it took, but the last ones were sets of like 2-3 reps! THis was all we did for back that day..

Give that a try one day for something different.
