DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE. I AM THINKING OF BUYING A USED MOBILE HOME. I HAVE FINALLY SAVED UP $20G'S AND I CAN GET A USED ONE WITH 1 ACRE FOR LIKE 17 GRAND. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION. I AM TIRED OF LIVING IN APARTMENTS. I WANT A DOG. I WANT ROOM TO DIG AND TO POTTER AROUND AND STUFF. HELL I AM IN MY 40'S.

ADVICE? ANYONE LIVE IN A MOBILE HOME/TRAILER? ANY GOOD WEBSITES.

uhhhhhh go for it just make sure u dont end up somewhere whith imbred's and 3 legged dogs, .... there's a trailor park near me.. i swear not one person that lives there hasent been on jerry springer..

I SAW AN AD IN THE PAPER...IT WASN'T IN A PARK, THE HOME HAD 1 ACRE OF WOODED LAND. SHIT THAT SOUNDS PRETTY GOOD.

BUT EVEN IF I DID LIVE IN A TRAILER PARK, I DON'T MIND...AS LONG AS CLETUS KEEPS IT DOWN AT NIGHT AND DOES NOT PISS ON MY PORCH.

I get sick of apartment living too. I sorta wanna live on a boat.. but I work with computers, and from what I hear, electricity and water don't mix well. So a land lubber I be, matey.

my broly/best friend/partner in higher acts of stupidity did the same thing about 3 years ago, couldn't afford house prices, tired of apartments, wanted space for his family.

he bought a palm harbor mobile home and an acre of land. with it on a permanent cinder block foundation, a wooden deck and landscaping surounding it, it does NOT look like the usual knee jerk conception of trailer park trash.

the interior, espically the kitchen and master bath, rivals some up scale holmes. it was built to the same standards as houses, LOTS of insulation, double pane windows, maytag appliances.

in 3 years' time, his 2 kids haven't torn it apart yet, still appears to be as solid as the day they moved in.

before he moved, i had the usual low opinion of mobile holmes, or "modular holmes", as they are called in the real estate ads. now, i'm tempted to sell this tract home of mine and do what he did.

Buy the Acre and the mobile home then build a big ass house on the lot in you spare time!

I might do this since I have always wanted to build my own house, it's a guy thing. I could sell what I own and buy 50 acres and start a subdivision!!! That'd be cool.

I have had a friend recently do the same thing. Honestly looks nice on the inside and out, my advice is go for it, fuck what society says. If you are happy, then roll with the smiles!!!!!!!!!

You brought me waaaaaay back in time. ..My hubby and I started out in a mobile home when we first got married. WE LOVED IT! Good ole 14 x 70 (I do not recall the make of it)

Advice: I'm not sure where you live...But I will tell you this: If and when you buy new or used, BE SURE THE HOME HAS PROPER INSULATION FOR YOUR AREA! We found, that our home was built in the south and DID not have the proper insulation for the Northern winter's. Easy fix but it was work we did not intend on!

Also, MANY banks treat the loan as a car loan. Give Green Tree Lending a call for loan info- I think they are located in Wisc. Sorry I can't recall it's been a long time ago- I AM SURE OF THE NAME THOUGH!(if they still are in biz ) Sorry, I was not anal enough to keep the phone number- BUT I DID RECALL THE NAME OF THE LENDER !:)

Good luck!

WELL I DO NOT CARE WHAT SOCIETY THINKS, AS I MENTIONED I AM IN MY 40'S AND I LEARNED 20 YEARS AGO NOT TO GIVE A FUCK WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THOUGHT :)

SO HOW MUCH DO LOT FEES RUN, USUALLY? HOW MUCH WERE YOUR LOT FEES. FOR IF I DO NOT BUY SOME LAND.

I SWEAR, LOOKING THROUGH THE HOUSING ADS IN THE PAPER IS LIKE WANDERING THROUGH A DREAM WORLD. I FEEL LIKE A KID IN A CANDY SHOP. TOO BAD I CAN'T AFFORD MOST OF THEM. WHY DOES IT SEEM LIKE EVERY HOUSE IN THIS AREA STARTS AT $200K!!!

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON DEVELOPING LAND (PUTTING IN WATER, ELECTRICITY, AND SEPTIC SYSTEM). FOR IF YOU WANTED TO PUT A MOBILE HOME DOWN THERE.

THANKS
