its hillariouse me and my brothers and my dad are all the same people with just a differant denomination of the same personality traits.

my dad is 67 and was in a street fight last weekend. he was in a tougher part of baltimore city visiting my half sister when some kid was just messin with him.... he was poking him with a small knife.. .saying "got my money?" ,"got my money?" my father gave him one warning and then mashed the young fuck!!

he sliped and fell on his knee (which has got water on it now due to the fall)
but all the same hes a man im proud to call my dad!!!!

my father always told me "all i got is my blood and my self-respect, and to never let anyone fuck with either"

im proud to be just like the old man.

holy shit dude! You went bald real early! hahaha.

But you're right. It's amazing how powerful a strong father presence is in someone's life. "Men" today do'nt know how it is to be a strong respectful father. They pop out babies, and could care less about 'em. Family values is almost like an after-though these days. It's real tragic, cuz no matter how much things change in life -- children still need role models and mentors to shape their lives and personalities. And the biggest mentor they can get is their own parents.

Good thread. Bo-den, your pops sounds like a cool ass guy, man, sounds like he's got a lotta heart, not something you can say about a lot of guys these days.

That is so true---it is unfortuante that more people don't share your thinking.
On the flip side I wonder how many women would say that they thought saying "I am my mother" was a positive thing. I would say that my Dad was my biggest role model and influence in my life. And as I am getting older, he has not only become one of my best friends, but also a person who I am able to go to get honest and objective answers.

Boden- Your Dad sounds great! Sounds like he is full of life and spirit! :)

LOL,

Bro, you described my dad to a T. With him there are no such things as friends, just family and acquaintances. That sounds harsh, but where we grew up things were rough, and he was just trying to keep us out of trouble.

He's almost 60, but was once a golden gloves boxer. When I was 11 he started mne boxing as well. One day my coach is out, but he left me to train ans spar with some other guys. There was one bitch in the gym visiting everyone was making a big deal over, cause they thought he could go somewhere, and he was ranked like 3rd or 4th in his weight class.

So he sees me, the only white boy there, and decides he wants to embarass me, (I'm like 12-13, he's a grown man) and offers to show me some stuff. So we get in the ring and sure enough he's mocking and hurting me. The whole gym is watching, telling me to get out, that he's an asshole, but I was too prideful to walk out of the ring, especially since he was taunting me to.

Then my dad comes in to pick me up, and he sees what's happening, and not yelling, but loud and cold he says "What's going on" And the guy responds "I'm teaching your kid how to box." So my dad goes "Show me, I want to learn to"

My dad is already almost 40, already a little heavy, but built like a bull. I'm trying to push him out as he gets in the ring (he is in a suit and dress shoes) but he just psuhes me aside and tells me to wait out of the ring. The first two seconds I couldn't even watch, cause I didn't want to see my dad get hit. Then I hear the "Bam bam" of someone getting hit, and I turn around to get in the ring and jump on the guy to help my dad.

My dad knocked the bitch out. He toyed with him, then knocked his ass out. I swear to God the punk never connected once. It was amazing, I'll never foreget that day

I'm not tiny by any means.

I don't give a fuck how tough you feel.

I have more rational and mature things to be afraid of than some macho simpleton who wants to bash my face.

You continually make the point that I would not argue with you in real life because I would know you would fight me.

I just wonder who is being insulted there then?

We would probably never meet in real life anyway, we have so little in common that it's unlikely we would meet in any activity we do.

your a lucky man, to have a dad like that... families like yours make the differance between men and the pussies that try and pass for um.

like my new bitch robert jan.

hes sad because all his dad gave him was weak genetics and even weaker principals to live by.

You don't know fuck shit about my father.
My father has 2 Phd's, he stands 6"3 and has nothing short of amazing strength for being born in 1940. He has a very large build.

He got into a motorcycle accident that broke more bones in his body than it left intact and he recovered amazingly at this age.
He has an amazingly driven and youthful and motivated personality.

I'm pretty satisfied with my genetics.

As for standards and assertiveness, my father has never in his whole life had to physically defend himself. He was never attacked. I wonder what that says about a person.

Whatever bro-bo-den-o-bor, nowhere to go from there.

I don't want to argue with you anymore.
I'm glad I wasn't raised in a family like yours.
I might prefer being born as a penguin.
