This is a repost of what I posted a while ago, dont argue points - its the idea as a whole of due dilligence. I really don't think many people are getting scammed, but there are a few of you so here you go:
1. The people with the lowest prices are usually the scammers, so go budget shopping and piss away your money.
2. If its too good to be true, it is.
3. Good sources aren't known by everyone thats why there good.
4. References are people that YOU KNOW TO BE RESPECTABLE, not every little mod is worth his salt (this board excluded). Their are a ton of tiny boards that are only a vehicle to endorse themselves and they are scams.
Also make sure if they give you a ref, it is actually the refs CORRECT email, I have seen some people saying that some vets have vouched but the email addy isn't even the vets correct addy.
5. If you find a good one treat him well. Only give his addy (if hes ok with it) to people you know and trust.
6. Be wary of sales, blowouts, etc.. why would a legit source to this.
7. Dont expect 1st class service, if you are bottom feeding or making 10 $100 orders (instead of 2 $500's or 1 $1,000). Be safe on the first order or two (keep them low if your not sure) but keep doing that, and the source will give his attention to his bigger customers. This may not be fair, but its business.
8. STAY AWAY FROM WEB PAGE BASED OPERATIONS, or sources that seem way too public thus attracting attention.
Use mods and vets and pick there brains, most likely they wont give you a source but they will tell you what they have heard or their experiences. These people don't get paid to answer your every question so be respectfull and patient. Always quote your previous message so we know what your talking about and leave the handle you go by on the boards.
These are some tips, stick around and get to know people, sources differ from each other. Some have extensive lists, some have limited lists, some are pricy and quick others are cheaper and slow/unreliable. In my experience it seems like you get what you pay for, and when you find the cheapest source they are the ones you hear about scamming in a month or two.
Be Safe!
