How the fuck are you supposed to balance bodybuilding and a social life?

it's like socrates' old philosophy... too much of a good thing becomes a vice.. you need the right amount of both... NO nookie is NOT the right amount!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont take bodybuilding so seriously... you work at gnc so that makes the meals easy... after work you can take a few bars with you and take a girl to the movie or something.. she eats goobers and you eat a biopro bar or three. you can involve the bb part with the social part... go to a bar, bring a food bar... no missing snacks and hell, if you dont work the next day your up till 2 and get an EXTRA meal in too...

You need to evaluate what is important to you man.
Rabbits fuck, they don't accomplish great things though. Sex is not everything, nor is relationships. Following your dreams to completion and finding a woman that can understand your dreams and supports you is what is important.
Behind every great man in history there has been sacrafices. Do you think Einstien had a great social life? Do you believe that Pro bodybuilders go out every weekend and drink beer till they pass out? Great men and woman are that way because of the sacrafices they have made, and would make them again if that is what it takes.
I am a busy person for the most part. Work, MA, PL, and a couple other hobbies keep me moving. I don't hardly every have time for going out during the week and blowing 2 or 3 hours hanging out with just anybody. I save that for the weekends, go shoot some pool with some friends, see a movie. I don't drink though, not because I think It will make me fat, but because I don't need to be high to have fun.
You can't have War and Peace at the same time.

yea I had this situationa year ago, so I compromised, im still very much into it although with my job I just can't keep up with it but am trying my damndest but earlier this year I just decided I was going to tone down a lil, mainly with being a diet nazi, so that I could go out more and have fun, i just carried protein bars with me, but man we are young and you need a social life, its great bbing is so important to you but you can't let it be the live all end all to your existence, so i dunno i say just restructure your time and stuff, make compromises

Generally great responses among all. I feel a lot better today, this was one of those posts you make when you're really pissed off and frustrated but it's not as bad as you think it is.. I know I can balance things better, I just have to take the initiative. Now obviously I will not be screwing around while on a cycle, that is not the time for anything less than perfection or as close to it as you can get in my opinion.

What I really wanted to accomplish with this post is to see how some other people that I know are very consistent balance it all out.

I've been asked out by 2 girls as of late, one an old friend who I saw one night and the other a girl who works at a restaurant in the same area as GNC. I tenatively said I would go out with the first one next week so perhaps I will do that afterall. My problem is I figure no girl will put up with my schedule so why bother pursuing a girlfriend.

Puc you make some valid points, and SSME that your post hit me the hardest. I do NOT want to waste this time in my life. I dont have self hatred as far as I can tell, I actually think rather highly of myself but I do think that one negative of bodybuilding is that it makes you HYPER sensitive to imperfections in looks... that is both a postive and negative. I'll be going to college fulltime during the day rather then night next semester so that will likely kick things off well. It will definitely help to actually be AROUND girls for once.

Frac if all you want is a fuck, why not call an escort service. I did alot of reading on this on the internet and they're like classy prostitutes. They also cost about as much as a nice date and your guaranteed to get some ass. And if you like her you can call her back and become a regular.

lmao at Vict, and seriously Frac just try and come up with a new time schedule or something, like try and do all your training m-f and take the weekend off so you can do stuff and if u absolutely have to eat every 2 hours then just carry around protein bars or something, i mean you work at GNC when I was there I always bought a box a week in case I went out, plus hell if u go out to eat no need to worry in the first place, point being you gotta be able to give a liil to get a lil in this case don't be totally unwilling to sacrifice things here and there ur not gonna die if u miss a meal

sheit my diet was far from perfect 1st cycle, i just made sure to get a certain amount of cals in each day and didn't really be anal about meal times, but I went from 190-230 and my next bigger bulking cycle will be starting soon

Here's something to think about too- I've noticed that you can look about 80% as good with about half the effort/time. That's not a bad cost/benefit ratio. Once I get my bodyfat down to where I want it (hopefully within the next month), I'm going to ease off, live a little, and just maintain. Maintenance doesn't require nearly as much effort. See what I'm saying?

Yes, it is like a progress curve..At first the more effort you put in the more results you get. But as you progress and increase the amount of time you spend, the curve flattens out and the more effort does not grant you an equally proportional resultage...
