How responsible is the UAW regarding Ford's situation?

Of course it's harder, but it's also harder when all you got is a record of employment to justify your experience. No degree, no certificate, nothing. No one is going to pay 50k for the sake of it.

this may shock you but there are thousands of crafts that are non-degreed but craft specific that pay very well.

the labor board in the US is a joke.

most people that make comments similar to this about how the there are laws in place now to protect unions, really dont have a clue what thier talking about. its just a talking point they've read somewhere.

here its taken seriously and they actually fight for the workers

The power of unions is severly deflated in 2005, then it was in 1940. Unions just cna't compete with a cheap better-trained foreign workforce who enjoy a cheaper standard of living.

obviously they wont admit it to the union, but i was working with behind the scenes and did security for the vice president of that company for a few days as his driver etc,i sat in on meetings where these things were discussed, he has no reason to bullshit me,nothing he told me would ever get passed on to the union as i hated those pricks with a passion.

in todays work force alot of manufacturing is automated, once the machines are set up and running it takes little man power to keep things rolling, especially in a steel mill

edit-there is still another union in the plant with other workers still working there job aswell and lending a hand,i should have added that

real objective view here. lol.

Spongebob, my problem with unions is being required to belong to one. I want to negotiate my terms seperately. If I do a better job than Union worker next to me, I want to be compensated better. If I increase the profit margin for a company more than the worker next to me, I expect more than him. Collective bargaining has its benefits but also has its downfalls. The biggest downfall is the implicit encouragement of apathy on the part of the worker. If all level III assembly workers with 10 years on the job get exactly the same pay, what benefit is it for one to perform as good as or better than the other?

very valid point i agree with 100%.

I also remember about five years ago a few coworkers and myself drove to a GM plant in Indiana to look a a peice of equipment for sale.It was a huge press we bought for the company i work for .
We arrived about 10am and had to walk thru the maintenance shop to get to the equipment. On the way thru i noticed five GM employees playing cards in what looked to be like a break area. Three to four hours later when we left i saw three of them at the same spot still playing cards and the other two were taking a nap.

Yea!........we Americans should all be thankful of the UAW for the high prices of those shitty autos we drive.

Although i believe the UAW has fucked all the Ford employees out of a job and they should get fucked my sympathies still go out to the families who will now prob need Goverment help to support themselves.

lmao @ better trained.

cant argue with cheaper but its not because they 'enjoy' a cheaper standard of living, thats rediculous, almost laughable. they do it for the same reasons our forefathers did it, to pass on a better standard of living to thier children and grandchildren. those same cheap laborors will will do the same. its the american dream. it will come full circle again.
