This sounds like one of my roommates. Nasty bastard plays computer games non-stop, smokes camels, and judging from how often I notice that his towel has moved, showers maybe twice a week. You can smell an acrid mixture of cigarette smoke and BO wafting from his room. Last time he cleaned his room, he filled seven- yes, seven- lawn and garden sized trash bags full to the brim with trash. This "cleaning" stirred up the funk to almost unmanageable levels. I need to buy another candle.

I mean, you hear that comment all the time, but just how true is it?

So you European folks- how often do you bathe? What's expected of you in your culture? In America, I think at least one shower a day is the norm. I can't stand body odor, not even my own. I'd rather contort myself into a pretzel and lodge my nose in my buttcrack than smell my own B.O. all day.

So what's the deal here?

Saying that Europeans stink is like saying that 15% of Americans can't read or write and 60% are heavily obese. Is this hitting home?

So, chill. Most Europeans do bathe just like you, at least once a day, some even more (surprize?). And like you (?), some Americans aren't fat.
