How much did the engagement ring cost

p0ink

New member
ok, how much did you spend on the engagement ring

or

how much did your boyfriend spend?

i finally ponied up after 2+ years of dating.

.834 carat, VVS2 F rock on a platinum band.

uh, yeah...i am now broke.

Fuck that.

Get a fake.

Tell her it's fake.

And tell her if it's important for it ot be a real diamond, then she can fuck off.

Do it now.

if she throws a fit, have her call me.

AWWW

Congrats P0ink!

:rose:

yeah, she already did say yes.

i wasn't worried about that. i was more worried about having a heart attack buying the thing. i just honestly do not understand why this shit is so expensive.

i have seen the documentaries and read the books - diamonds are not all that rare - the price is artificially inflated due to the monopoly certain companies have on the market.

i just don't see the appeal.

plus, i do too much rough and tumble stuff to wear anything expensive. i doubt i can even wear a wedding ring - i will either fuck it up or lose it.

I guess.

I was pissed when my engagement got broken off but now I am glad.. singleness is way better than committment, haven't been single for awhile!

aww, how romantic!!

I never got an engagement ring or even a formal proposal. And my sister bought our wedding bands which are made of sterling silver. I have a butterfly nymph (she matches the tatt I have of me and my girls) and he has a dragon. We have been happily married (in spite of all the hell caused by my ex) for over 6 months and neither of us can imagine life without the other.

We wish you both many years of happiness, kindness, good health, all of life's blessings and the strength to weather the storm. :)

1.3 carat, E color, VS1, rectangle princess cut... I got it from a friend of mine "in the business", wasn't retail thank God....

I'm not into flashy jewelry, so I'd personally rather a guy get me something simple and understated and save the money for an amazing honeymoon or a downpayment on a house.

I have a nice house, I splurged on an awesome HM @ the Ritz in the Virgin Islands, and I bought a rediculous ring. 2cts, plat setting, double eternity bands.

Fuck me. I am stupid.

I was told to tell you to mail me that ring... and also, could you hook a sista up with a room at the Ritz in the Virgin Islands?

Slightly over a carat for the main stone and .5 total carat insets on each side, platinum band...a little over 12k.:(

Thats alot of money for a ring for sure!

Sounds beautiful.

Congrats bro, can you post up some pictures of her?

Bitch kept the ring.

Frisky said:
wtf?

How the hell could you allow her to keep my ring?

Allow her?

Shit... she had possession of it. She wouldn't give it back. It's either sold or in a safety deposit box at this point.

Too much case law to try to get it back, apparently it's a gift. Property of the bearer....

what if it would just disappear... ? LOL

I know I know... i'm kidding

I still have my ring, didn't want it for myself. I did however pay for it... the second one... and decided that I wanted my daughter to have it. The first ring I have from my X is going to be given to my son along with his dads band.

I am really not huge on jewerly... I would either lose it, or damage it for sure. If it can't be replaced the next day... it serves me no use because I won't wear it.

It would be really nice if she put it away for your daughter.

Now, how about that trip to the Virgin Islands?

When I was married I had a very pretty round solitaire, a little more than 2.5 karats, on a simple platinum band. I loved it. It was perfect.

i bought my wife a 1 ct heart shaped single diamond ring. cost was about $1700 and that was 10 years ago last month. for her wedding band i got her an insert that her engagement ring sits in with about 1 ct bagets .5 on each side. total i think i paid close to 3k for both.

Why buy one then ?

My hubby had NO MONEY when we got engaged. Sooo, the diamond prolly cost him $1200.00.

I did'nt get the "real big rock" til 10 years ago, with the birth of our daughter.

Funny thing is, the first diamond means more than the rock he replaced it with. Go figure.

Congrats!

11 grand.

2 carat pear shaped diamond on an eternity platinum band.. and then another eternity band as her wedding band which was another 2 grand..

2500 ....then I called off the engagement . she offered me the ring back and i said "no you keep it, it was a gift" ...i was thinking she would still give it back you know maybe a week later or something. beatch sold it.

PRIDE GOT THE BEST OF YA

$2000. Considering that we both would end up paying for it, she was reasonable enough to not even consider a ridiculously expensive ring.

dood... any man looking at my hands that hard while they were wrapped around the shaft of his dick would end up with bite marks on his nutsack. You should be checking out her roots to make sure its not time for another bleaching. Sheesh... you guys...

You know what's funny? EF's MOST NOTORIUS "Golddigger" *ME* never got an engagement ring and sports a sterling silver (though admittedly unique waaaaaaay not pricey at sub 50$) wedding band.

WTF is up with that?!?!?!

I got my fiancee a plat band with 2.3 cts. round cut, flawless in a square setting. Yes, round in a square looks sick!!! Plain but big. Ring is amazing if I may say so myself. I paid $23k and got it insured for $31k. It is flawless. My friends hate me cause now they have to try to follow my lead. Suckers!

2 carat marquee cut blah blah blah...10+ K later...(this was in 85) and now the ring just sits in a box collecting dust. Diamonds fuck.

lol

why would anyone pay several thousand for a freakin' MINERAL ?

Same here sista!
Smaller ring=nicer honeymoon

hell, I've been there twice so I wouldn't even want a traditional wedding...just take me somewhere nice and find someone to hitch us. Wedding and honeymoon all in one package.

Wedding rings are not that crazy. I got a plain plat band with some etching paid $3500 and she got one with 10 diamonds around the top for about $7k. It matches her enaggement ring. Round diamonds in square settings, these are not flawless. :-) Together they look amazing.
We got them engraved to say "By Your Side" that is our wedding song.
She loves wearing it around the house. I keep telling her not till June 16th.

The engagement ring is supposed to be a "preview" of what the man has to offer the woman in terms of security. Men value beauty and women value security. This isn't rocket science people.

Also, as Yonkers Weight and JH1 pointed out, it is sort of a status thing. Not that I have an issue with this per se, but I don't see the point of spending THAT MUCH CASH on something to impress others... then again, if it makes the woman that you are marrying happy, then it is worth the money, I suppose.

My husband has a ring picked out for me that he has his underoos all up in a bind over to get.... For me, it doesn't matter much. He just likes to spoil me which is a welcomed change from first time 'round.

It's nice to know that your man wants you to be spoiled, but breaking the bank over "shiny pretty" just doesn't seem like a wise move. Truth is, that I will not stop wearing my wedding band once he gets me the ring. It will just have to be platinum or white gold. :) The wedding band means a lot to me and as I have stated before - it cost less than 50$ - both of our bands were purchased by my sister.

So if you paid 23k for a ring, what di you pay for your house ? 1M ? And you must be driving a Benz E serie (at least).

My fiancee is not flashy in anyway. She would of been just as happy if it cost $10k or even $5k. She is not a gold digger in anyway. She is very low profile, I guess that why I spend money on her. She is great and does not expect it so she gets it. My last gril wanted everything and expected it so she got shit!
Where we live and who we hang out with, material things matter. In NY it does matter where you live, the car you drive, the clothes you wear, etc... Play the game. That's why I work hard, so I can play hard!

Flawless? Very few diamonds are flawless. VERY RARE INDEED.

Most people do not carry a "loop" around with them anyways.....

Precisely why my hubby busts his ass to give me everything.... and then some.

And I can also identify with the second paragraph because of the industry my husband is in. NO ONE is going to hand you a check for hundreds of thousands of dollars to invest with you/your company if you are driving around in an old Chevy pickup and you are wearing a wifebeater and pants that hundreds of polyesters gave their lives for. LOL

The cool thing is that once you reach a certain age and you have the life experience to back you up, you really dont care about impressing anyone with "flash".... you can shop at Target and put your 3 dozen long stem roses in a 20$ vase and no one would suspect it as it is in the grand foyer of your 5K square foot home. :qt:

In other words, you have gotten to a stage in your life where it isn't about impressing anyone anymore, but about comfort and getting what YOU like.

again my wife gets comments every fucken day about how beautiful her ring is..

and i def didn't break the bank..

investing 10-15k in a ring is not a big deal newbs.

Condo on the water in Westchester was $510k and my beach house on LIB, NJ was $680k. Both solid investments. I drive a 2005 Range Rover and she drives a white 2003 Benz S600.
We both make good money. Both is the key. I do Business Banking and she does investment banking. She is a partner of a group of people who are starting up their own community bank.

I am only 30. I look young. I need to carry myself a certain way to let people know I am the real deal when it comes to their business banking. I have to dress the part. I hope in time I don't have to keep up and can start slowing down. Like I said I want to retire before I am 45. My goal was 35 but that's not happening.

Then it was worth every penny. If she is happy, then that is all that matters because if Mamma ain't happy.... AIN'T NOBODY HAPPY! :lmao:

I did not break the bank either. I spent what I could without killing myself. My boy bought his girl a ring for $8k and it is very nice.

It is all relative and no one should say Jack Schitt about what YOU CHOOSE to get your lady... If others hate on you for it then that says EVERYTHING about how they view themselves.

I will have my ring one day but till then I have everything that I need because I am worshipped DAILY by the man of my dreams. :)

That's what I said about getting married again. Hell, I couldn't even stomach the notion of having to deal with a dood for more than a few hours at a clip - FUCK MARRIAGE... and yet, here I am. :)

Never say never....

Good point. Each person has their own money to spend as they see fit. My boy spends crazy money on art. He buys new paintings all the time and spends a lot more then I did on her ring. Each is own. Like I said before if she expected it, she would not get it.

If all goes well. Make the right investments, work hard and of course run in the right circle. People do not realize how important that last part is!!! I would not be where I am if I did not spend time with certain people. The right place at the right time. Timing and people are everything. There are people who bust there ass everyday and don't make a lot of money. Because they don't make a lot does not mean they don't work hard. It is all about seeing an opening and going for it! Put yourself around the right people and things fall into place.

these are true words, my CC debt is less than $200.00. I pay cash for 99% of what I buy. My credit score is stilll very high, as I only buy houses and cars on credit for the most part. On vacation, I take them along for emergencies and ease of use in some parts of the world....
