How many square feet do you live in and how many do you think you actually NEED?

Oh I agree completely, I'm not sure if I would be at liberty to do any painting though. I would go with a light green with cherry red accented furniture. Deep colors always tend to give the space more warmth.

and know some others posted and my house may not be such a shoebox. I'm proud of it because I got it all on my own!! I really need more storage area in my house. The attic is a joke......what I wouldn't give for a basement. Been in some homes up north that had them and they are freaking awesome!!! We are so missing out on that.

an basement here in south louisiana would be horrid... With hurricanes and flooding, it would be a non stop battle to keep water out of it. We would have to have pumps in it and during this season and hurricane season we would be cleaning and pumping non stop... thus, we rely on attics.

Yeah, I know that is why we don't have them but it would be cool to have one is all. Some changed them into game rooms, living rooms, weight rooms....I couldnt do anything with my attic!! I have to climb up those steps (laddar) and put stuff within reaching distance....Its not finished so it hard to walk up there.
Just not the same is all.

well... I know when I do decide to build a % of my attic will be made into a room for whatever I desire... I will not put the ol' attic stairs but go with an actual staircase leading up to it so that I can use the room and feel comfortable doing so. So It will be more like a 1-1/2 story home. I will enclose an area for game room or such (weight room will be down stairs due to the weights and such.. just not safe ... not with me.. eek) and then have the outer area with a door for storage. still all with floor's and walls like it would be a second story.
