I know this has to do with your BODYWEIGHT but the more you weigh, the stronger you should be. By the way I weigh around 225 and can do a measely 10 chins.
:(:(

20 was my best. That was after about a month of trying to see how many I could do. Started at 13, so I upped it 7 in one month.

i dont know.........4 ......5.....maybe.....

and i dont have anthing around my waist...... ha

sorry...... i hurt my brachillias tendon on these....... bad bad bad..... i dont like em

40 in HS

Hi all,
New to the board. This place is great.
Back in HS wrestling i did 40 chins on anavar. I was only about 130 though, now maybe 20.

chins or pullups

Palms facing away, shoulder width, we called them both chins or pullups, which is it?

chins...

I really suck at these. I can usually only do about 6 or 8, then my next 2 sets I drop dramtically. I really don't have much of an excuse either, I only weigh 108lbs. ( i am a obviosly a chick).:kitty:

Well I saw this thread yesterday so I tried it out today at the gym........ I can only do 6 @ 134lbs. Damn I'm a weak chick. But I never do them (is that a good excuse?) I'm going to add them to my workouts. My goal is 20 now!

I do 2 sets of 10 unassisted chin ups, then 2 sets of 8-10 pull ups...I am a 107lb woman. So I guess that's not so impressive...

today i tried em for the first time... and i could 0
i could not even pull myself up
what does this mean?

Semantics

Regardless of what you call them, they are a good exercise. This morning I did them after a good chest and bicep workout. I could only squeeze out 6/5/6 of the wide-grip variety, but it felt great.

palms facing away....wider-than-shoulder width grip -

first set - 12
second set ~ 8
third set ~ 7-8
fourth set~5-6

5'10" 179lbs

When I workout, I do mine after bentover rows. So I cant do that many. I have never tried to see how many I can do just for fun.

I do upper body in this order: chest, biceps, back. Then on another day I do Shoulders and Tris. Is this fucked up? Help a brotha out now, I'm not too proud to take advice.

well...i started out with this...(do ya only want upper body?)
day 1: chest/tris
day 2: rest
day 3: back/bis
day 4: rest
day 5: legs/shoulders
day 6: rest
lather, rinse, repeat :D
this worked quite well but I changed it up recently cuz it didn't work for me anymore. but when i first started this routine it worked great,so..........give it a shot.:D

That sounds like an okay routine, but when I do legs, that's all I do. I might try doing the chest/tri and back/bi combo though. I'll prolly throw shoulders in w/chest/tri.

7 sets of 10

3 of those sets weighted 35 pounds

180 bodyweight

i go wide

25

...WITH ONE ARM!!!!!

Just kidding. 2 maybe. I suck. But I can run a 3:00 marathon...does that count for anything?

FHG;)

230 pounds.

Holy shit fellow PTrainer...thats a ton a weight...how do you get it all on the chain...im jokeing

I hit 30 wide pull ups tday at 190 bodyweight

I can do 12/8/7 with Body weight of 158. I don't go all the way down though because I have dislocated my shoulder. Dow

Pull up and Chins

I love Back day, its my favorite. So of course pull ups is my bread and butta. I can do about 18-20 wide pull-ups with the hold of 1001 and 1 at the top and a slight pause at the bottom of 1 and up again. (168-170lbs)

After that first set it hurts like hell and the reps start really dropping off. But I do forced ones as well and that will widen the back.

Chins....well....I would think that they are easier than pull-ups....so I am banking that I could alot more. But the truth is that I don't even do them at all...if they are worth it I will start..., all I need is the usual sign of all those in favor.

Probably about 17 or so

I don't ever "max out" on pull ups but I have done 3 sets of 15 with good 3 minute rests in between at 154.

Not that great but hey different people have different muscle mechanics so it don't mean nothin'

Pull ups are my thing...

I can do 20-25 wide grip , but right now I am using a back pack with 30-40 lb. I can do 8-10 reps..

Great exercise...Overhand grip or underhand grip they are a must..Underhand grip also emphasize your biceps..
