Yarg!

Platinum Membership gift from THE BOMB SQUAD!
before gassing out? if so whaats ur time? today i did a 3 miler across hills and trails and whatnot... a paltry 27 mins. on the track.. around 22..pretty tired after.

No sweat, but not as fast as I used to. I'm bigger and don't run near as much.

i got that 7 minute mile

I ran 2 miles in 13 and 1/2 minutes a few years ago. It damn near killed me.

I was running 3.11 miles in about 30 minutes before my knee surgery....just getting back into the running thing now....

When I weighed 160 i could really scoot, but now It would be 24 min or so. Just depends. But I'm not about to find out. My stepdad runs marathons and I started to jog with him when I was 6yr old. Up unitll I was 22 I was a pretty avid runner. Then I started to put on some good weight and it became too much tear on my body. 22 is a good time.

I'm pretty sure he's kidding.

Why would anyone do that IRL?

I set up a portapotty next to my bed to cut the distance to the toilet

Im into efficiency
me too. I mean, if you have to go that far, may as well drive.

time = money

my standard run is a 5.0km course (3 miles = 4.8km) on roads/footpaths with a few hills, and according to my mirror (where i write all my times) it has been done in 22:49

is track running that much easier?

I can run about 2-2.5 without my back killing me. Could do 3 pretty easy with a good back
What the fuck are you, Wilford Brimley?

I shoot for 10 minute miles, but then I plan to do six of them right after biking 24 miles.

8 years ago in H.S. i was running cross country... 3 miles in under 20 minutes... 1 mile under 6...
now im doing 2 miles on the step mill (no hands) in about 23 minutes... but i dont run at all... im interested now to try and beat my old marks... but i sure weigh a lot more now... not fat... but still...

Usually run 3 miles in 27-28 min. when my knees let me.

that is about right for me... I'm an steady 9-10 kms/hr "jogger".

What we do can't really be called running orb, we simply stroll around and check the ladieees

16 min 27 seconds (something close to that anyway) was my best 5k........that was 20 yrs and 50 lbs ago. Now I may run to the fridge now and again.

I can easily run 3 miles, but I'm slow. It takes me probably 27 minutes. I can run 5 miles in an hour. I'm SLOW. My butt is too big to be much of a runner...lol.

Track running is way easier.

27 min is not slow.......
yeah, but that is not easy for me. I can't get that every time. Probably more fair to say 27-30 min average. I don't do it often, because I HATE running.

Gymgurl said:
My average is 29 but have only been running since May...Never ran before...now I am hooked....
Well, God bless you. That shit is too hard...lol.

waht does a big butt have to do with making u a bad runner,

i got a huge ass and i run like white lightening

she's talking about distance runners and the infamous saggy ass syndrome

I used to run a 20k in under 66:00 regularly.

a 20k in under 66? so that would put you in at around 29-31 for a 10k? that's pretty close to the bottom rung of elite level distance running. far out.

my times are slow, the fastest i could manage for a 5k is probably 23 or so. and the track is not necessarily easier, imo. it's hard to generalize about a road run or a cross country 5k. running in circles kind of sucks as well.

I was addicted to running at one time. It wasn't about times, though. It was all about pushing myself as hard as I could. No matter how intense the pain got, no matter how much my lungs gasped, just getting in one more step, then another, and another, and another was a truly awesome feeling. Knowing that your pushing yourself much farther than another person would even consider trying was pretty intense. I would stop only to get sick, then go some more.
Nowadays its more about lifting weights, and not so much about cardio.

a 32-minute 10K would put you in the top 25-30 men's finishers of almost any 10K in the country.

so how fast is a 5 min mile time exactly? is that a full on sprint like say a 100 m dash? or still a sprint , but not a full dash liek 100m?

About half of the speed of a world class 100m runner.....keep in mind that the top marathoners are going about that fast for over 26 miles in a row!

Depends how you mean it. Technically even sprints aren't sprints as even the top 100m runners are slowing down at 70 meters. a 5 minute mile is probably an above anaerobic threshold effort for anyone not a world class runner.

I broke 5 minutes routinely in high school. sub 4 minutes is really the measure of an elite runner. 4:30 - 5:00 is typical for top high school athletes.

I don't remember asking you for anything, except proof for things that you believe but I know that will never happen.

And yes, I actually do have proof I can run 3 miles, I've got records online of me running anywhere from 3.1 miles to 13.1.

And yes, this is the internet, and everyone makes 100K+ a year and has a 10 inch cock, but that's not going to stop me from calling bullshit on people who live in a fantashy world such as yourself.

Your attitude is very hostile, not Christ like at all, if Jesus were alive I'm sure he'd be ashamed that one of his chosen people was acting like such a douche.

Training for the Disneyland 1/2 marathon in Sept and the Honolulu marathon in Dec. Doing 16 miles on the trails tomorrow. :qt:

I can bench press 1000pds.

with only 1 arm.

When i was in USMC i could run 21 min 3 mile PFT but that was 11 years ago. Now I also shoot for 10 min miles. It would be hard for me to get 30min 3 miles though. More like 32-35 min 3 mile. Not bad for having a mild heart attack.

and my point was that you were going as fast a speed as you could maintain, otherwise you would have gone faster.

Why is it that people from Kenya always win in distance running? ???

I'm gonna run 2 miles before 6pm.

HeatherRae said:

They're naturally skinny, it's very hilly, at high altitude which increases lung capacity and there ain't shit else to do there. All they need is shoes and many of them run barefoot anyway. Winning Boston Marathon (and $100K) pretty much sets their entire family up for life.

If you can't run 3 miles, then you can't fuck without having to come up for air several times.

perhaps i can run farther than i think i can then.......

I just ran a little over 2. I'm still in decent shape, but a dog charged me and I think I would have been too tired to kick it's ass. When I turned to confront it, it backed off. Luckily.

Im still sucking wind.

I can do a 5K (3.1 miles) in 25 minutes :-) hopefully i'll get in the 23's this season.

This morning at our first meet of theyear I got a 26:10 but only because there were 4 ginormous hills, and I totally started out too fast and choked. I stopped to walk (walked for about 5 seconds each) like 6 times. It was bad. I still got third from our varsity team, but, I can do better.

We often run 6 miles in practice. I once jogged 13.5 miles.

And might I add that I work my A** off at practice every single day. Sure it helps that i'm young and not TOO muscular, but I believe any of you could run well if you worked hard enough and continuously.

Sweety, if I ran that much I'd be skinny. I run just enough to keep in decent condition.

Probobly, lol. You'd have a more natural looking body. Leaner and Less Meaner

lol.

I tend to get carried away when I talk about running

I haven't run for distance since I cut down to 196 about 10 years ago. Too hard on the knees. At 196, I could run 3 miles like it was a joke....could run 10K in the summer heat back then.

The bigger body works better for me. I can crush a man easily. Don't need much stamina to do that. Running all those miles is for people like Gilligan. j/k

It's good for you, but it would defeat my purpose.

1 min 15 seconds around the track (provided it is the normal 1/4 mile track). 5 min miles is MOVING.

4:30 ins't typical for a highschool runner. Maybe in texas where they can train year round. I think the state record in Iowa is 4:14 or something close. Sub 5 min in highschool is an above avg. athlete.

I was gonna run today after work but my mother contracted shingles and I had to go to the store to get her eye drops right after work. Maybe this will be a painful reminder for her not to ever gamble any more.

he did say top hs athletes, though. given that, i'd agree with him.

running becomes harder the more muscle mass you have. If you're jacked like a bodybuilder or powerlifter - even simple running will be tough. Even tho u have low bf, and in good health.

i hate running. i have a car.

Lestat said:

Me too. Running 20k at 1:06 would put you at the podium of most half marathons. If you could run that fast you would be making money at it.

I've run 3 marathons (26 miles), 6 1/2 marathons and probably 50 5 and 10k races. 5k times are from 18-20 minutes depending on conditions and whether or not I taper properly.

YAY I must be good....I ran 4.0 yesterday and going out again this am :p

what's the point in being so big you arent in decent cardiovascular shape?

and being big isnt always an excuse. i know a guy who is ~230 lbs, and he still runs an 11 flat for his 2 mile run.
