How Long Is Your Daily Commute?

I Told You So ...

Not distance but the actual time, I'm curious how long it takes folks to get to/from work, on average.

2150km

9 miles. Takes about 20-30 minutes.
I see California traffic headaches aren't a rumor. My husband has to go to one location (he covers several) that's 18 miles from here, depending on traffic it can vary from 35 minutes to as much as 90.

I used to commute 63 miles each way from Perris to Carlsbad. It would take me upwards of 2 hours in stop n' go traffice sometimes. I had to stroke it in the car just to keep myself attentive.

On a good day, 25 mins. When winter comes, sometimes over an hour.

6 miles each way

15 minutes to get there

30 minutes to get home (or to the bar for happy hour)

Car turned 2 yrs old last week ... less than 10k miles

I'm moving to Compton and wearing a white pillow case with eyes cut out of it to hide my face.

I commute 7 minutes

About 3 min if I drive. About 5 if I bike. Haven't lived more than 6 miles from work in almost 15 yrs.

30 miles, have to cross st . Paul then Minneapolis for a total of a hour and a half to work. Same back

When I was working corporate, it took me about 3 mins there at 6:30 am and an hour home. Traffic in the city is mental
I've worked from my home office for 3 yrs so, but now I am working out of a Psych Center and it will take me 40 mins to and from again.
I am not a fan of traveling but needed to go where the money/clients are

It can take up to 3 hours to get from where I live (on Hwy 118 east of Somis, CA), to downtown Los Angeles or West LA, if traffic is on the worse side. That's 40 miles. Since I basically work from home, I can plan well enough to go into LA when the traffic is least-dreadful. Yesterday, the Labor Day beach traffic was so backed up from Ventura and the northern end of Malibu Beach, that it was stopped solid across our driveway and all the way back into Simi Valley!!! That's a total of about 30 miles of stoppage. Without traffic, I can make it to downtown Los Angeles in 40 minutes, or to the north end of Malibu Beach in about 15 minutes. Lucky I have access to dirt roads and have a 4x4, as I had to get into LA yesterday. Here's a photo I took from the house, and you'll notice cars sitting on the shoulder facing the wrong way: They all made righthand U-turns at our driveway, and are waiting to get through the westbound lane to go back where they came from :worried: .

Generally speaking I've made a conscious effort to edit my posts for length. And in cases where I simply can't (personally, ethically, artistically or just because I need to be long winded for the intended reader) I usually put both a disclaimer and Cliff Notes at the top.

I'm probably wordy because I'm a reader. I usually grind through several novels simultaneously. I actually had to get an app to speed up the rate audiobooks play back because it's so slow I can't keep track (or fall asleep).

My husband, OTOH, was quite proud of the fact that he finished five chapters of a book yesterday. It's the first book he's chosen to read in decades. Not that he can't read, mind you, the man is very bright, but reading (other than technical manuals) bores him to tears.

I haven't read fiction since high school

Good storytelling is an art and all art is as much a part of human evolution as technological advancements. Maybe more so, in a way. Technology becomes outmoded and is forgotten but people are still reading Beowulf and admiring the creative talents of our ancestors :whatever:

The Turner Diaries is the only book anyone needs to read.
I have a similar philosophy but I have two books: The Kama Sutra and the Tao Te Ching, but hey, to each his own :whatever:

You didn't see the movie? The 2007 CGI version was alright.

I'm paraphrasing from Wikipedia: Beowulf is the oldest surviving epic poem of Old English, commonly cited as one of the most important works of Anglo-Saxon literature, also arguably the earliest vernacular English literature.
