I see California traffic headaches aren't a rumor. My husband has to go to one location (he covers several) that's 18 miles from here, depending on traffic it can vary from 35 minutes to as much as 90.9 miles. Takes about 20-30 minutes.
Woot, man, that's not a commute, that's a business trip.2 weeks for me

That's your birthplace?
There was a statue, bearing his likeness, erected in the town square.
There's quite a few erected things in his "home town".
About 3 min if I drive. About 5 if I bike. Haven't lived more than 6 miles from work in almost 15 yrs.

It can take up to 3 hours to get from where I live (on Hwy 118 east of Somis, CA), to downtown Los Angeles or West LA, if traffic is on the worse side. That's 40 miles. Since I basically work from home, I can plan well enough to go into LA when the traffic is least-dreadful. Yesterday, the Labor Day beach traffic was so backed up from Ventura and the northern end of Malibu Beach, that it was stopped solid across our driveway and all the way back into Simi Valley!!! That's a total of about 30 miles of stoppage. Without traffic, I can make it to downtown Los Angeles in 40 minutes, or to the north end of Malibu Beach in about 15 minutes. Lucky I have access to dirt roads and have a 4x4, as I had to get into LA yesterday. Here's a photo I took from the house, and you'll notice cars sitting on the shoulder facing the wrong way: They all made righthand U-turns at our driveway, and are waiting to get through the westbound lane to go back where they came from.

Generally speaking I've made a conscious effort to edit my posts for length. And in cases where I simply can't (personally, ethically, artistically or just because I need to be long winded for the intended reader) I usually put both a disclaimer and Cliff Notes at the top.Holy fuck it was a simple question LOL..hi MM!!

I'm probably wordy because I'm a reader. I usually grind through several novels simultaneously. I actually had to get an app to speed up the rate audiobooks play back because it's so slow I can't keep track (or fall asleep).
My husband, OTOH, was quite proud of the fact that he finished five chapters of a book yesterday. It's the first book he's chosen to read in decades. Not that he can't read, mind you, the man is very bright, but reading (other than technical manuals) bores him to tears.
Good storytelling is an art and all art is as much a part of human evolution as technological advancements. Maybe more so, in a way. Technology becomes outmoded and is forgotten but people are still reading Beowulf and admiring the creative talents of our ancestorsI haven't read fiction since high school

I have a similar philosophy but I have two books: The Kama Sutra and the Tao Te Ching, but hey, to each his ownThe Turner Diaries is the only book anyone needs to read.

people are still reading Beowulf
The Blank Slate is the only book anyone needs to read.
You didn't see the movie? The 2007 CGI version was alright.Beo who?![]()
