How long is too long? Thinking of doing 5-6 months

you never listed your full stats. how old are you? that is important. if you are a young dude then you are pushing your luck running such long 'cycles' ... these aren't cycles anyway. going on for 5 months then going off a month then back on isn't 'cycling'.. cycling to me is time on= time off. when i say you are pushing your luck I mean one of these times your HPTA will have a hard time bouncing back and you will be suppressed for a while. it happens, trust me there are countless threads of guys who have had to go on TRT in their 20's because of it.

if you are in your 50's or something then running long cycles is less of a risk since you are probably going to go on TRT soon anyway. probably 55-60 years old is a good age to consider permanent TRT so you can run more aggressive cycles cause you have that fallback anyway.

thats my view atleast. i'm in my 30's and I will keep my cycles to 10-12 weeks tops and cycle off and monitor bloods. i want a healthy HPTA for years to come. why waste the testosterone the body produces that is free of charge?

Well I agree with you. I just am a bit concerned with regard to doing an additional month or so... thats really the issue at hand for me. I don't really rely on standard brology... I honestly wish my first cycle was just 250 TEST for 10 weeks. But of course people always get pushed into doing 500mg of Test for their very first cycle and only because that's the 'standard protocol' there is no real basis for it.

As for using DECA for joint support being a terrible idea... what is your rational? Most of these joint support supplements are worthless garbage. Whereas DECA is scientifically proven to increase collagen synthesis and increase synovial fluid. It helped me the first time I used it, and to this day has lessened my chronic pain.

First, I am glad you agree with me. Second, I never mentioned anything pertaining to Deca being a terrible idea for joint support, EZ_ E did. Nevertheless, while we are on the subject of Deca, I do feel compelled to give you my thoughts about the drug.

It is true, Deca does have collagen properties, and does sooth that achy feeling for a short time. However, make no mistake about it, deca does not repair structural damage. Deca pacifies your injury or ailment for a limited time. I have a severe case of arthritis in my shoulder, my Doctor said, I will need a "joint replacement" some day." My shoulder hurt constantly, I used deca this past summer and the pain was subdued. However, a month after my cycle ended my shoulder went right back to the state it was in prior to taking deca. Again, deca will sooth your pain depending on the severity of your injury. However, the effects of deca are temporary not permanent.

Moreover, be careful taking deca if you have a major or even minor injury because it gives you false hope, and you might feel your injury is not a big deal and you might decide to push yourself beyond your injury is able to bear. Consequently, you could cause more damage to your injury..

+1....also using deca as a joint support is a terrible, terrible idea IMO....with all the joint support supps out there...

This i will agree on,sooner or later you will have to come off of deca,What your joints gonna do then?
You need to concentrate on long term repair rather than Quick fixes.

NTBM has a joint repair
Also Krill oil & Gellatin both help keep the cartlidge between bones (the soft spongy tissue) lubricated.

+1 Radar and led, there are (albeit few) legit joint supports products out there...

The disadvantages of deca make for outweigh the benefits IF you're only using it for joint support...

I'm 27. I've been off for nearly 4 months, not planning to go back on for another 2.

As for stats

6'1 195sub 10% 32inch waist. Eat very healthy/clean for the most part.

been as heavy as 210.

Bench at the moment 315...peak was 340

Dead lift at the moment 475 raw...peak was 505

Don't do backsquats anymore... have gone to 400's. Strictly front squat now.

Strict standing overhead press all the way down to under the chin I can hit nearly my body weight.

Did 6 pullups with 80lbs strapped to me the other day.

As you can see, I'm not some weak novice... I waited to use anything until I was well above average in terms of numbers. Again, I was a pretty avid boxer/thaiboxer/wrestler.. not a bodybuilder. I personally have had long lasting effects from deca with regard to joint pain/healing. I also have never gone over 150mg of it.. so I don't think I've had any of the associated bad sides.

Id be real interested to see if a higher dosed cycle at say 500 test/400 deca for 10-12 weeks would be easier to recover from than say something that I'm proposing.

Well at least deca is scientifically proven to increase collagen and joint fluid repair/synthesis. These products you speak of are really nothing special and are largely unproven scientifically. No offense, but to each his own I suppose.

imo deca is never easy to recover from.

on average a high dosed but not crazy dosed 12 week cycle is much easier to recover from then a mild 24 week cycle.

I'm a fan of deca and have it in my HRT program at low dose. From personal experience it has dramatically improved several injuries and promoted a very favorable environment for accelerated healing. That said, it's not a miracle cure. If you need a joint replacement or have advanced arthritis it will sooth a degree of discomfort but you aren't healing this as it is unhealable. Recovery time from healable injuries is significantly reduced though. As with all things we need to be realistic.
