How important is Sleep?

i dont know where you saw that, but i can almost guarantee you that is a homer simpson quote lol

I think them amount of sleep one requires is very individual, some people need more and some need less, but we all need it. But, if you allways have gotten 8 hours of sleep a night and all of a sudden get are getting 5 a night, your work outs will suffer.

I have been on this schedule for awhile now, so I am uused to it. I actually feel better with less sleep for some reason. I think just to be safe I am going to get some extra sleep though. I will drop my first class and get an extra 1 1/2 hour sleep. I already have a job in what I am going to school for, so I am in no hurry to get the degree. I just want to finish it and have it on the resume. Plus its not bad meeting all the younger girls. lol
Thanks guys for all the help!

Sleep is diferent for everyone...some need more some need less. Its not the numbers tha tmatter. Its how you feel when you wake up...weather your soggy and tired...aching...or rested...energetic..and ready to tackle the day!

I have to disagree....sleep is more improtant that we imagine. I have read a number of articles that prove that we function better think more clearly and hear , listen and understand better when we get 8 hours of sleep a night. We all know as weight trainers that we will grow when we sleep. We become more rested to give us better wouts in the gym and as stated earlier we grow when we sleep.

I didnt say sleep wasnt very important...........I participated in anumber of stuides in college where we stuidied.....sleep paterns for Psychology. It is a proven scientific fact..that diferent peopel need diferent ammounts of sleep...for som epeople anything over 5 hours is overkill....some 6..some 7...some over.8......usualy anything over 89 hours is unproductive and negative.......There are cases where peopel work fine while getting 1-4 hours of sleep a night....or some who DONT SLEEP AT ALlL. As for the original poster...i would recomend 6-8 Hours. I myself...need alot of sleep. I try to get 8 hours.

That was mine I dont know who i stole that from just saw it on the internet one day and laughed and as for sleep i know you need it to grow but you need to understand your body is capable of doing 80,000 x more then you can imagine.. my friend is a navy seal and he went through training and they have a "hell week" where they do all their excercises and training and are only allowed 4 hours of sleep TOTAL in that entire week.. 15 minutes here and 15 minutes there is all ure body really needs (NOT when it comes to gaining muscle though)

Wow just realized that we spend 33% of our lifetime sleeping....damn what a waste of time. If I were to live to be a hundred years old....I would have slept for about 33 of the 100 years.....damn that sucks.

BTW this is if we sleep 8 hours/day
