Doesn't seem to matter when I go to sleep, I wake up by 7am. Usually, if I get to bed by midnight or earlier, I am more than fine when I wake up. If I get to bed later than that, I may be tired when I rise, but I still end up getting going around 7...sometimes 8 on weekends.
When I go to bed, I hit the sheets and I am asleep in a matter of just a few minutes. No problems there.
For you night owls...the body was not meant to sleep during the day and be up all night ya know. You're fucking up melatonin levels and increasing cortisol levels. Might want to try avoiding excess stimulants. Keep your caffeine intake down and try to keep it strictly in the mornings. If working out late keeps you amped up, are you taking stims before w/o? If you lie awake at night thinking/worrying about stuff...well, tomorrow's another day, and there's nothing you can do about it till then. You'll be better off just going to sleep and getting enough rest so you're feeling well enough to deal with things the next day.
I could spend a week or two with anyone who says they can't get to sleep at night or aren't a morning person, etc. and by watching their daily routines, dietary habits, supplements they are or aren't taking, etc. and most likely cure them...if they were willing to take advice.
Easy for you to say, being a morning person and an easy sleeper. Some of us are our most alert from around 4pm to 2am rather than 9am to 6pm. I've always been this way. I really feel the most awake around 5-10 pm. Thats like my afternoon. Just the way my brain works. Because of my routine my body is now used to waking up early and I no longer sleep in until the afternoon. But even so I feel the most alert at night.
edit: And btw I take absolutely no stims at all, no caffeine, no chocolate, nothing. And I am like this whether I am working out at night or not working out at all. The only thing that may make a difference would be working out in the morning, but like I said I'm not a morning person so that ain't gonna happen. I like to work out when I feel most awake, around 6pm.
