I think I'm fairly liberal but I'm against gay marriage, but I support same sex legal unions. Marriage is a business partnership in part and gays shouldn't be denied that aspect of it, but Marriage is something reserved for Man and Wife IMHO.

Totally agree. But must also say this-it is my opinon that the masses of people who are so opposed to homosexuality are threatened by it, scared of it. (Not of being hit on, but it is different, it's not the road most travel.) Since irrational fear is not accepted as a persuasive arguement by most they need to root their fear somewhere and religion offers the most fertile ground in which to plant those roots. There are indeed versus of the bible that deem homosexuality a sin. But there are also verses of the bible that deem things such as husbands taking conqubines as acceptable-something that is widely considered innappropriate. While I believe in the Bible and a God, I also believe that the bible was written during a certain time period. There's no way the author's of the Bible could have anticipated the changes that would take place in the world all these later. Time for a revision I say

No, no-don't misunderstand. I do not base my morals on the bible. I learned my morals from my parents, friends, and self. I think the bible has some great quotes in it and can at times be a great sorce of inspriation, but I in no way base my life on it. Well, not much at least.

Well..I'm so pleased that so many of you feel that Same Sex Unions should be granted. I hope that all of you that lived in a state that was banning it, at least voted not to do so.

I think because the idea if homosexuality being wrong is, for the most part, rooted in religious beliefs.

Not necessarily, some may say that homosexuality is wrong because it's against survival of the species. So is sterilization and chosing not to have kids.
