I know this should be on the recipe board. But nobody reads that and everybody eats tuna...
I have been trying to eat 4 cans per day and had gotten to the point where i was ready to heave each time i was ready to eat another can... plus packing around a can opener with me... anyway i wanted a better idea.
I tried several things (many were nasty) but this one is truly good tasting.
Take one can of chunk light tuna drain off the water
add one whole egg and 1/4 cup of flavored bread crumbs
then add 1/4 cup fat free shredded cheddar cheese.
mix it all up and form into 3 patties
cook on a nonstick griddle or pan till both sides are golden brown.
put in a zip lock bag and eat with your hands.
no fuss no mess and IT DONT TASTE LIKE TUNA
breaks down at 17 grm. quality pro from tuna cheese and egg
4 grm. carb from the bread crumbs and cheese
2 grm fat from the egg
Per patty.
way better profile than any protien bar.
also works out to about 38 cents per patty.
and really taste not at all like tuna.........

You shouldnt be eatin 4 cans a day 4 a week is even a lot. Tuna has been found to have mercury in it in recent test that were done i only eat tuna like once a week and the rest of my protein comes from chicken breast lean steak every now and then eggs cottage cheese and protein shakes.

i heard the same thing (results being overblown). we all know how the media loves to hype things. sensationalism makes money esp. when you charge for advertising fees. i dont believe a damn thing when it comes to the media and nutrition. look at the "milk is bad for you/milk is good for you" arguement. and also the "eggs are bad/whoops, no they aren't" fiasco. they just sensationalize a subject to get viewers.

fuckem

pickels

Does antone real believe the FDA would allow the continued production of Tuna if it contained harmful levels of Mercury???

Does anyone really believe the FDA would allow the continued production of Tuna if it contained harmful levels of Mercury???

I tried that tuna kick for protein. After a couple of weeks a felt like my ass was sprotting fins. I starting looking for other ways and found scallops. 6 scallops have 29 grams of protein and don't taste nearly as bad. Don't always rely on tuna, there are plenty of other things to eat. I can't remember the web site addy, but there's one out there that breaks it down for ya.

There are alot of variations on those tests. Basically, albacore contains slightly higher levels, and the only people that should be really concerned are expecting mothers, and those that probably eat 4 cans a day.

I eat 1 or 2 cans, and find mixing it with white rice does wonders. If I'm having trouble putting it down, I chomp on a banana while I eat it. It seems to have a counter effect on the taste of tuna.

I can't find the article but the point of it was that if tuna posed a health risk then there would be warnings or limits. Even in pregnant women and young children there are not limits or warnings.
So eat up......:p
