help, newbie that needs answers

thanks for being honest EZ sounds like your really know your stuff... im 280 now back before i stopped i was about 40 pounds lighter i have always been heavier but i never looked my weightt most people would guess 40 to 60 pounds under my weight. and my break i took from liftting was about 2 years and belive it or not but from the time i started back up which was about 2 and a half months ago i average about 10 to 15 hours a week in the gym and the first couple weeks i started there would be days were i come in and do 30 more pounds in a lift that i did the week before i always figure it was my muscle memory comming back i dont gain that much a week anymore it was just like the the first couple weeks. and yes i drink tons of water i very rarely drink anything else i very seldom drink coffee and when i do i dont add sugar.as for the supps i choice those because i have always heard protien is like the foundation for a guy wanting to build muscle, do you have a better way to get protien with less sugar if so please let me know and creatine i have always had great strength grains from and i figured with me working out 10 to 15 hours a week at the gym i would need more vitamins just from the extra work, ontop of the gym i work construction part time. the supplements i told you i take are all things i used when i first started and got good safe results from, if you have any suggestions as far as supplements im all ears, it seems like 90 percent of supps anymore are fake. but im sure my diet could need some reconstruction i try to eat as healthy as possible but there is so many hidden things that are bad for you. if you have any suggestions with diet or maybe a diet outline i would be more then willing to give it a try....as for my workouts i know my workouts are intense and i get really good strength gains i actually have a couple workout buddys that go with me and one of them is on roids but he doesnt like to talk about it, whats funny is i have no prob keeping up with him in the gym granted his max's are a little higher then mine and he looks alot better in shape but as far as reps and pushing areselfs we stay neck and neck, but i do agree i need to stay with it longer before i take anything as far as sterioids, i would like to get back into the shape how i was about 220 240, with alot of muscle on me i never wanna be one of those guys that are 170 pounds i have always liked being a little bigger just not 280 it seems like even though im only 22 it is still harder to lose weight then what it was when i was 17,18,,,if you have any suggestions on dieting, supps or workout routines please fill me in thanks for your info

OK, more good stuff…

At 22 you should be able to drop some of the excess weight pretty quickly, I see what you mean now about the 30 pounds…There will always be some days when you’re a little stronger…

Protein IS indeed the foundation, but you wanna get your protein from real food unless a shake is the ONLY option. A shake post w/o is ideal and maybe 1 other time in a day only when real food isn’t available…

10-15 hours a week over how many days? More isn’t always better, you may be over training. A suggestion on training I would make would be to start a higher rep/super-setting workout…

This is gonna sound weird but you might not be eating enough (depending on your portion size) if you’re not eating enough your going to put yourself in a catabolic state (where your body is holding onto every calorie as fat to survive)

As far as you friend on the juice, based on what you said that further proves the point that most people on juice have no business being on, he wasn’t ready to go on but did anyway…

Try making those adjustments to diet and training and see if it helps

my 10 to 15 hours is in a 5 days period monday through friday and i take saturday and sunday and i gotta admit i do change up my workouts and i do super sets just the other day i did a bunch of super sets to help my delts, but i gotta admit im a big fan of going heavy i love when people look at me at the gym and see 3 or 400 pounds go up and they look in amazment lol but your right i need to do a bunch of super sets and i have also been told to do somthing my buddy called HIIT (high intensity interval training) he said thats like getting a cardio in your workout,

EZ what do you personally think is some of the best cardio to do,

I don't like cardio. I'm not trying to get in shape. I like a clean, high-carb, low-glycemic diet and CrossFit/HIIT/Tabata.

M-F is gonna cause your body to adapt VERY quickly, you wanna train 2-3 days on, day off, 2-3 days on day off overall 7 days in a week...

And NEVER train based on what other people think...

im not neccessarily training on what my buddy thinks... he said i should try it so i tried it i like to try a bunch of new workouts to see what i like the best what i get the best results from and it really keeps my buddy guessing. and as for the 2-3 days on then a day off i have seen guys at my gym do that but i always get better results with strength then them, the trick to my workout is im never doing the same thing more then a couple weeks in a row i cycle my work outs i always hit all the body parts in one week and i find new ways to hit those body parts every week so my body doesnt plateau.. and on top of that if i miss workouts i feel like crap physically like i feel slugish thats why i do mon-fri im really good on weight lifting i trained guys back when i was in high school on the football team for strength. but i have never gotten as cut as i wanted and it probable has to do with a mix of diet and cardio even when im eating right i dont get the cuts i want so thats really what i need the most help in

It's in my post. Heavy weight interval training has been PROVEN to be more effective at overall metabolic supercharging and losing weight, AND not catabolic like steady-state cardio - results in natural release of anabolic hormones. Just try 10 minutes of free-weight tabata and you will KNOW what I am talking about. Losing weight is 90% diet, 10% keeping your metabolism going strong.

i agree with what ez is saying. gotta keep that body guessing or your workouts arent going to be effective. if what you are doing is working right now, i say keep doing it until you plateau then change it up. once that happens a few times you will have a feel of how your body is reacting to your workouts. personally, i find that doing a chest/tri, back/bi, legs, shoulder, full body circuit works best for me. but that is just me it may not work as well for you (we are built totally different, im 5'10'' 165) but i say you should give that routine a try. i know a thing or two about working out so PM me if you need any more info. good luck
