Hit it!!!!

Plf's can be a pain in the ass or the head for that matter...No wait just about anywhere on the body.

Black hats have pretty interesting jobs...But today it has come to my attention that the future Ring Tapers(Pointers) or most of them here have a god like attitude with the NCO's going through the course...Too bad one of them is about to be run out of our class because of his attitude. Junior NCO's sometimes need to chill the F--- out...Just because you have the stripes dont mean that being in the army for 2-3 years makes you qualified to complain about some Private or Cadet in how they are performing the Landing or Exiting drills

Black hats have the coolest jobs in teh Army. They're done by like mid day Thursday.

Take it easy on the Ring Knockers - you're going to be working for them, and after a few months of real active duty service kills the attitude, you'll find they are generally the best officers out there. (I was not one, btw).

Some of the junior NCO's there are assholes. It;s the way of the world. They're only trying to imperss the older guys.

Enjoy your weekend. Try to get "mound detail" when you are doing the 34 foot towers. Big fun. Keep it up.

Hey ranger you should do another I remember thread .. What is a
"D-boy"... Delta Force? What sets them apart from the rest? I think Matt mentioned an ability to mentally handle extremely stressful situations?

Delta Force is very small. Just a fwe hundred guys. They liev and work in a compund at Ft Bragg, so obviously they know each other extremely well. Goes a long way in a military unit.

Delta gets unlimited money to train. whatever they want, they get. They never face budget shortfalls. (True of all special ops).

Delta selection is more mental than physical. Anyone can put on a 100lb backpack and walk 25 miles through the woods if tehy train for it . You can't train for a psychological evaluation, and that is real big with Delta Force. Intelligence is highly valued.

Additionally the selection process includes an appearance before a selection committee, (sqaudron commanders and force commander, generally) which attempts to determine if the candidate will work well with the existing squadron members. In other words, you can be realy sqaured away and not make it because they don't think you'll fit.

Once you are in you train train train. Lots of shooting. There are anecdotes about guys who went on sick call with sore hands from shooting so much. Training is unconventional - Delta mission is primarily counterterrorism and high impact, short duration urban combat.

No one who hasn't been there really knows much about it. But Rangers train with them about once or twice a year, and commonly invite them to observe and critique some aspects of our training.

Ground week is over and I'm moving on to Tower week on monday. I will make my first jump 1 week from 2morrow. I have been lucky enough to pull mound Detail most of the 3 days they were used. I volunteered for Running the ropes yesterday and made 3 runs out and in and said enough of that crap. Running with boots, balistic helmet and warm temps can be a bit of a drag when 20mph gusts pick up.

I was able to resign a volunteer statement for RIP yesterday so I will be going to it once I graduate from here...No more Alaska for me.
