first off, i dont see why the doc would give you 900mg of aspirin. The Washington manual only says to give 650mg every 6hrs for acute pericarditis........just kidding......he did fine. He possibly prevented you from having a heart attack.
Second, most hospitals dont use CKMB anymore since troponin I and T are much more sensitive and specific to the heart. Even CKMB can be raised by other things. The sac you described is in fact your pericardium. If there was a major problem it would be seen by ultrasound/echocardiogram (same thing). If there was fluid or enough inflammation the ultrasound would see it and they would have to drain it with a big needle through your chest. Its pretty easy actually. If no fluid, the treatment for what you had is to stop the inflammation, which is what the aspirin does.
Third, enteric coated aspirin is no guarantee that you wont get a stomach ulcer. Especially make sure not to chew the aspirin and take it with food if possible.
What gear were you on? All this and you forgot to mention that, which is the true moral of the story. Gear is known to cause cardiac problems, but this is the first ive heard of it causing acute pericarditis. Then again, i really havent checked the medical literature to see if any others have been described.
