Headaches while lifting

has anyone else experienced this? Literally midway through my 1st set of anything, deads, presses, curls whatever, i get a big old pain behind my eye which lasts for hours! The doc has given me some beta blockers which should help with circulation, but i'm not convinced thats the issue.

Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it?

Thanks

i get these too, they are called exertition headaches....

some people are prone some are caused by high bp, etc.

i usually get them if i take too many supps and my caffein is high....
or while im 'on'

i havnt gotten one in a while, but im back on and should expect some =[

which really sucks since mine feel like i got smashed with a truck fuckin blows.

Mine were soo bad i went to Dr and all thinking it was an Anerism, got a specialy MRI called an MRA(i think) and i was all good..

yeah that makes sense - i am supplementing with creatine currently, and have been drinking coffee due to a to late night gigs, and early morning work schedules.

Do you reckon cutting out the creatine would have an effect? i'll lay right off the caffiene first i think. But you're right, when they come on, you know about it!!

i'm drinking probably around 3-4 litres a day, more on a training day. i was hoping it would but seems to not have had an effect. Apart from more toilet trips ;-)

its more the caffein then the creatine, im supplementing creatine right now at high doages (cee) 5grams/day and no headaches...

i was getting them EXTREMELY bad, to the point where i throw up, when i drink an energy drink called NOS, and with my ECA stack the caffein is tooooooooo much and i get insane pain.

I know your pain man, alot of people who have not had a real exertion headache doesnt know what it feels like, ive been hit with bats/bottles to the head and it hasnt slowed me down, but a fuckin exertion headache will cripple me.

mm-Could an increase in water intake help?

ive never tried to up my water intake for the reason that i already get 1.5-2gallons of h20 / day

but ill make sure next time i get them to remember how much my h20 intake was...

they littereraly come out of nowhere, most think that the headache is there at the begining of workout, not true, i basically feel fine and sometimes even great, but during an straining exercise they hit u like bricks....

THE ONLY THING I HAVE FOUND TO HELP
was breathing better, learning how to breathe during the lift helped the strain....

such as keeping the air in the belly and not my mouth

mike, what's your bp usually? i'm just curious because i've had higher bp recently (i'm talking about crazy high - like 180 - 200 even/90) and i get a faint feeling similar to what you describe but never too painful.

my BP at resting is 'very good' according to Dr.

but i would imagine during lifting it skyrockets with some tricks, (squeezing the bar, using wrist wraps, and just working myself up)

i was considering a bp monitor while these were really killing me....

u might just have high bp headache, i hope! ive read they can start small like you are saying, most of the time the pain is behind the eyes

while lifting your bp is going to go up no matter who you are. but that is momentary. (i have a pdf here about bp and weightlifting). my point is that my bp isn't at normal levels for resting - like i said 180/90 the last time i checked. i'm trying to shed some fat and do a bit of high intensity cardio and GPP and see if i can bring it down. i was just wondering whether you had any inputs - like exactly your resting bp is and whether you have any possible solutions to bring it down.
