Harold Camping and his crazy predictions

A lot of crazy things have been going on. What do you think of all of the natural disasters, hurricanes, ect?

Do you think a ton of people will end up believing Campings predictions?
How many more times will people try and predict the end of the world?

Christians, Doesn't it say in the bible that the end of the world can't be predicted?

The world better not end when i'm in the peak of my life....

i'm gonna be super pissed if it does.
 
According to the bible the world is supposed to end May 21 this year. google it rob
 
I have googled it.... I've read up on it.

I think it's outrageous.

But a lot of crazy stuff is happening....

You're good Iggy. And you're right...the bible is very clear in that endtimes prophesies are not known or can be predicted. Not sure why Mr Camping insists on this tack but it certainly makes him and alot of others look very foolish. Oh well.
 
Huh ... well we only have two days left to live, and I'm stuck in mexico and I'm suppose to fly back the 21st, so I won't even get a chance to say by and die at my family, and friends side... I guess i will just spend my next two days fucking the brains out of girls here...
 
Mmmkay I heard the same in 1988 when my wacko stepmother kept me and my two stepsisters home from school for two weeks because this was supposed to happen then. But now it was the end of the church age. So when nobody starts to randomly vanish at 0000 hrs in Greenwich on 5/21/11 what are we going to call this era?

Yes. She was a wacko. Its kinda a long story but she was a user/manipulator who took advantage of my dad at a very low point of his life.

She thought that the rapture was about to happen in 1988 when I was in 1st grade. She kept me and her 2 kids home from school for 2 weeks until the school got involved. My dad was working close to 80 hours per week and coming home and geting hammered so he didn't realize what was going on. When I went back to school I told them why I wasn't there. I'll never forget the look of shock on teh teacher and principal's face.
 
This all reminds me of William Miller and the Millerites. In 1833, he revealed the Second Coming of Christ would happen in 1843. Nobody listened at first, but eventually he built up a large group of followers, known as the Millerites. As time neared to 1843, he was pressured into revealing an exact date. The date chosen was March 21, 1843 to March 21, 1844. As that range of dates neared, the Millerites built this huge dome stadium of sorts to live in and chill out until the Rapture.

Of course, nothing happened, so they made a new date: October 22, 1844. Some Millerites kept the faith as that day passed without incident, but most either turned over to be Quakers or just tried to go back home to rebuild their lives.

These dates can be calculated in many different ways. The Bible has large use of the number 7. Many of the dates thrown out over time are figured up as a result of how they interpret certain passages and they work the numbers until they can get something relevant to the time period. Afterall, it does no good to announce the Rapture will take place on May 21, 2342.

These people are very much so fueled by the lust of attention, fame, and donations provided by followers. It's nothing new.

If you're interested in reading about a particularly fucked up religious tale, check out the book "The Kingdom of Matthias." I won't go into detail, but it's about this crazy story that actually happened in New York back in the 1830s.
 
In the 24th chapter of Matthew, Jesus speaks in tremendous depth about endtime prophecies. However, in the 36th verse of that same chapter He spoke these words in reference to the rapture..."But of that day and hour knows no one, not even the angels of Heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only."

It cannot be much more clear than that. I don't understand Mr Camping's reasoning or motivation for what he is doing. I do think its tragic.
 
May I add to this mr camping has already predicted the end was suppose to be may 21 1994 when it passed he also changed his date to may 21 2011 he has already guessed wrong once. Not to mention the teaching of the bible clearly states that the only one who knows the date is god, not Jesus not the angels and certainly not mr. Camping.
