Hamstring ripped? Any experts?

I am just finishing a high dose deca/test/d-bol cycle. My strength ahs been going up in leaps and bounds... perhaps a bit too fast. Tonight I was in working legs. I got through quads just find. Then I did a couple sets of straight legged deadlifts for my hamstrings. No problem. Then I got on the lying leg curl machine. I stacked the weight on the first set. The second set I dropped the weight down one plate lighter. I was only on my second set when BLAMO! It felt like my right leg tore free at the hip. I dropped the weights and rolled around on the floor for a couple minutes. The pain was very bad... but I was able to get up and walk out to my car by myself. (Fortunately, my girlfriend was there to drive.) Now, I can walk... kind of a limpy walk... and the top of my right hamstring really hurts...

My question is:

Did I rip it? Does this just sound like a muscle spasm? Or what is it?

My g/f examined my legs. Both of them look exactly the same. The muscle is not balled up on one end. (When a friend of mine tore his pec it balled up in his chest.) My legs look just fine... it is just that the top of my hamstring hurts like a mother fo.

Can any injury experts tell me what this sounds like?

Thanks guys! I was praying this was a pull and not anything serious...

...hee hee... now just don't tell my g/f. I think she's gonna be bringing me burgers and fluffing my pillows while I watch TV for a couple days.
 
Ice that fucker now and reapply every 3 hours. If you can walk its probably just a mild strain but I wouldn't hamstrings till its absolutely pain free because its probably the easiest injury to reaggrivate. I pulled mine in November and it still acts up.

If I had a dollar for every time I've pulled a hammy, I'd be able to afford my next cycle of BTG. Here's the shit that has helped me.
1. Anti-inflamatories (ibuprofen 600-800 mgs three times daily...with food)
2. Ice at least three times daily, and if possible, even more.
3. Keep it wrapped with an ace bandage to minimize the swelling. Like knee wraps, wrap from the bottom up.
4. Don't stretch the fucker for at least three or four days...people always say to stretch a pull right after it happens, but they are full of shit. Stretching while the injury is fresh will actually worsen the pull. Start a mild stretching routine once the injury had started to heal. (usually three to four days in mild pulls).
5. Rest....wait till the hamstring feels 100%...and then rest another week. Hamstring injuries can be like the fucking plague if you don't let them heal completly. Trust me...let it heal beyond the point where you think it is fully healed. If not, you'll probably go back to square one as soon as you point any hardcore stress on it. NFL players have missed entire seasons because of hamstring injuries...they suck, and they'll suck alot worse if you don't let them heal.
 
Yep, a pulled hamstring takes 2 weeks to heal. If you try to come back after one week of rest, you'll reinjure it. Better to wait three weeks. Ice the hell out of it.
 
Bro you probably had a partial tear and not just a pull....go to a sports doc and then sports physio.

Ice it for 15 mins serveral times per day.

Do not train hams for at least six weeks

Do not stretch the hams for a least a month and then go EASY

If there is a balled up chunk of muscle or a really sore area then you need to get some deep massage ACROSS the fibers to break it up and prevent adhesions..the sports physio will show your girl how to do it.....it hurts a lot but it is absolutely necessary.

Hurts like hell, especially when they use a cane or their elbow, but it helps...
 
I agee with Monkeyballs. Pulled my many times and not sure if I didn't tear the fucker in 1/2 once. Black and blue from my knee up into my ass. Best thing I found is when its gets a little better try to do all your stretching in water like a pool or hot tub. The bouyancy lets you stretch futher and deeper and keeps the stress of the muscle. They rehab horses like this.
 
I had the same shit happen to me 10 weeks ago bro. I was running sprints and it felt like it popped. I though it was torn for about two minutes of agony. I started telling myself it was just pulled. I waited three hours to get a real good look at it. It looked like the other one, no huge amount of swelling, and most importatly NO BRUISING. If your shit didn't turn black and blue (emphasis on black) from your ass down to your knee its just a pull. Rest, Ice ,Compression, Elevation. Take it easy on it for about six weeks. You might6 be able to get away with LIGHT leg curls, but any movements that resemple stiff-legged is out. I couldn't deadlift, bent-over row, squat, heavy leg press (light to moderate weight was ok). Hope you recover fast bro, argent.
