Gyno op done - At last!

Gurrr

New member
Hi, i posted before my operation asking about how to keep muscle whilst recovering.

Well, i had my operation and i feel reborn - although it was last Tuesday! (6/6/6)

Did it on the NHS (live in UK) for free.
Admitted to hosp on Monday. Had op on Tuesday afternoon. Took 3hrs!!!

Had lypo to remove fat. Incision in armpit area. Also had gland removed. Incision under nipples.

When i woke up, felt very tight chested and painful. Had drains put in to stop swelling.

Could just about walk arounf the hospital on Wednesday. Looked in the mirror with a t-shirt on. Looked flat! But not gettin my hopes up.

Got heavy bandaging on at the moment. Got drains taken out (painful) on Thursday morning and had to wear an elasto-plast (boob tube) to apply pressure to my chest.

Discharged on Thursday afternoon. Have been resting all weekend watching the world cup!

Right now, still feels a bit sore. Cant raise arms to much. Cant lie on side in bed. Getting bandages taken off tommorrow and will have to wear a lycra vest. Then will get stitches out next week.

I'll post updates. I dont know how it looks. The doctor said i'd be very pleased but i dont wanna get too hapy til i see the results without bandages.

I'll keep you guys posted.

:worried:

HI,

Congrats.

I live in the UK, can you explain how you managed to get this op done on the NHS for free?

What did you tell the doctor?

How long was the waiting period?

How bad was the gyno to begin with?

Thanks

Hi mate.

I went to my GP and told her how shit my life has been having gyno. She took a look and said we'll sort it out no problem. That was in Sept 2005.

My gyno was not that noticable in a shirt but always wore a size up and dark colours but topless looked bad.

In November 2005 i got a letter stating i had an appointment in Feb 2006 at my hospital for blood tests and check ups. Everything was ok with blood. Was told by doctor there i would be on a waiting list of around 9-12months and it would be done at another local hospital.

Last month. (May 2006) i started leaving messages at the hospital asking whereabouts i was on the waiting list. No replies until end of May 2006 i got a letter saying i will be admitted to hospital on 05/06/06 and they will operate on 06/06/06!

Its been over a week since i had it. Got the badages off yesterday. Looks really bruised and weird coloured but to my shock they look completely flat. Even too flat!!! Doc told me to wear the suppied compression bandage tube (which is real uncomfortable) for another 4 weeks. My stiches are dissolvable so wont need to come off. Feel very sore but slowly recovering. Still hard to sleep (usually sleep on side but cant) and to shower but being extra careful. It all looks good. Cant wait to start lifting again.
