Gyms are crooks

This is the fourth billing issue I have had with the NYSC.
They've over charged me, even charged me a few years back 6 months after I stopped going there and was working out at out another gym. But I came back because the gyms are too far away that I like.
One of the biggest scams I've heard in the city is when a gym is about tom open they offer a super low rate if you join before they open doors and then they never open the place, lol. Crooks!

Oh, I pay a good price for my gym as well. I pay 55 when everyone else pays 70-90 bucks a month.
Seems like alot, huh? North shore of Long Island costs dough, on the southshore I could go to the same type of gym for 30 bucks a month.

the prices of gyms up north are absurd.

Gyms on south beach are about the same price ($100ish), but the rest of the miami is very reasonable especially with the big chains like golds etc or the little mom and pop ones. $40-50 a month on a less busy part of miami beach. possibly less on the mainland miami

I only pay around $30 but that's because I go to the fucking Y. Which means I get up at 5:45ish to go before work otherwise it's too crowded. I don't like to wait longer than a few minutes. It's a zoo after work. There are other gyms but they are around $70-80. No need to spend that when I can go in the morning and have the weights almost to myself. Getting up sucks ass tho.

Wow... I pay 19.95 + tax a month for a Gold's membership here in Minnesota. And that is locked in for 3 years.

-Starhopper

Just look up

I'm going to cancel my membership at 24 Hour Fatness and use the gym in my office building and apt complex. That's $45/month I can spend on crack instead. They have everything I really need anyway. I once prepaid two years for a gym that shut down a week later but the same guys opened a Gold's 30 minutes away at the same time. You couldn't transfer but the state got involved and they had to issue credits.

I can't afford to piss in a toilet right now. I could piss, but I couldn't afford the flush. I am gathering up all the stuff I need, which isn't much. Anything that will get my target heart rate up where I need it. I don't need fancy gyms right now. Maybe when I get in better shape financially. You know what sucks major ass is this damn economic situation. It hit the low of all low man first. Bullshit on that sheot right now. I mean dammit, I barely made it as it was, now I am jobless again. Think I will rent a Jet to go talk to congress and senate about bailing me out.

Sorry, a rant, but sheot man.... give a man a break.

Oldest trick in the book, Gym owners pull this shit all the time.

I have two memberships. One is $250 a year and the other is $200 a year. The $200 a year joint is filled with old timers, weights from the 1970's wet, caved in ceilings. I wouldn't trade it for all of the new equipment at Golds. The $250 place has hawt 40 year olds that train for triathlons and hunt young men as their prey. Plus it is right down by the beach so all of the juicers roll up in their supped up monster trucks hunting thr 18 year olds strolling on the beach. Both are great places to work out.

I also pay cash up front for the year because I hate messing with monthly bills. No contracts with either of these joints too. I was at Golds and had to prove all kinds of things to get out of the contract. Total BS.

My gym consists of an exercise bike, dumbbells, free weights and a bench, jumprope, a mountain bike, and my imagination. Oh and a machine my brother bought that uses free weights but has twenty different exercises you can do on it. Cardio will be mixed between all that stuff. I just need a target heart rate thing to hook up to myself. That is all I am doing right now is eating clean as I can and cardio. My place will be going soon and everyone will see something amazing.

Urban Active 25/month, special limited rate. I would pay twice that just to oogle all the tail that walks through there.

I pay $19 amonth and then $19/mo for unlimited tanning.............but the company that bills me...for the gym........has notoriously misbilled so many members that the gym is dropping them. Many members left just because of the shady billing tactics by 21st Century.

A good friend of mine worked there for years. Their billing tactics are the shadiest I have ever seen. His manager would pay him money under the table to go to other local gyms and steal supplements to sell out of his gym. there was also a large AAS operation running out of there.

Equinox is much better, a bit pricey though $100 a month.
I like it so much better then NYSC.
Never heard of this scam, crazy

that place is a ripoff..nice way to waste money though if u got it to blow

They sold memberships to within 2 days of closing. There is no way they couldn't have know. I had only paid $180 for two years so it wasn't the end of the world. The Gold's was much nicer but it was much farther than I wanted to go.

i can get you a good rate in south beach if you ever need a new gym pretty sure they will do no contract also

i had a membership at powerhouse, they told me if i moved over 60 miles i could cancel with no penalty...so i moved 1500 miles away and guess what? they wouldnt cancel it..hahaha said i had to transfer to someone else and pay a transfer fee...cocksuckers..i finally quit paying the memberhsip and after 6 months they told me 115 and they will drop it...hahaha

No kidding???? Holy crap. i knew they were shady....but that is unreal. LOL.

$100 every 4 months but my gym has a sign up about rates changing I get a special deal not sure how that will affect me if at all.

No honestly, I pay $40,000 a year for a one bedroom apt (don't know if that's expensive or not for you guys in the US) so it comes with a gym. It isn't the best but I love two things about it:

1. It's always relatively quiet and
2. It's a stone throw away from my building - I can see it from my balcony

This is great as I never need to worry about getting in my car, driving and doing all that crap and I can just walk there when ever I want... Going once twice or three times a day is no big deal and doing shorter sessions. No worries with post work out meals or showers or anything of the sort.

All it has is:

3 treadmills,
a bike machine and a step machine

a smith machine,
pec deck
leg press
leg extension/hamstring
lat pull down machine
dumbells (no barbells) and dbs only go up to 50lbs but I have added almost 50lbs in the last 8 mths so not complaining at all...

I get by with that and don't feel the need to pay money for something I don't need. Work each muscle harder than the last time and I have continued growing :)

i  the smith machine

Yeah, NYSC are decent...but at $100 a month, a bit pricey for what they offer, but I like that they are about as common as starbucks

The Reebok Club in NYC....$1800 ENROLLMENT! that's right, just enrollment! And then a few hundo's a month....unfuckin real!

i pay 80 a month, but it is a MMA gym. nothing fancy, just some old school iron and a hard core training type of atmosphere. couldn't ask for anything better!

i  the smith machine

I love it - I can do so many exercises on that thing it's unreal:

bench, incline, decline, military press, upright rows, forearm exercises, bicep curls (love how they get my lower arm and lower bi pumped to kingdom cum), squats, pull ups, ab exercises...

If there was only one machine I could use, it would be that!

lol, that's exactly the kind of shit I'm talking about!
