How come most men do not like country music?
What is so wrong with it? I mean really take a look at it, most of it comes directly from the heart or the truth where as other rock, metal, and shit doesn't.

Do you feel less of a man if you admit to liking country?

Some men like country music. In fact, I saw this movie called Brokeback Mountain and those fags loved the shit. I had to turn off the TV the second those assholes kissed though...
 
I think people who listen to it are hung up on some kind of depression fetish...thats worse than a scat fetish if you ask me.

yeah I only listen to it when i am in the mood for it. Guess maybe it is all depressing and shit...who knows

simple, country sounds terrible. Not that I'm a great fan of rap.........but I've heard some rap music that I can feel was "inspired" and the people who wrote it or rapped it had legitimate "talent". When I hear country, I just picture some rube picking up a banjo and strumming along to some awfully missplaced melody and sing songy rythm that makes me want to cover my ears and cry like a baby. jimmy buffet is as close to country as I'll ever get.

Seriously, can you relate any country EVER written to stuff like zeppellin? Not even close.........the Ramones? C'mon.....no way.
 
I used to be able to listen to it for a few minutes at a time when I worked in a dirty garage and heard it playing in there. It's just the style that I don't care for. Most of it's the same depressing message about lost love, pickup trucks, or the singer's boy/dog/etc., same beat, song structure, twangy singing....it wears on my nerves. Maybe if I lived in Nebraska and was a farmer I'd dig it more. Rock just has more energy. I did like some of Travis Tritt's songs though, like T.R.O.U.B.L.E. That can be good bar music. Shania Twain is also listenable once in a while in the right setting.
 
Music is music. Some good country music. A lot of shitty country music. Just like any other Genre IMHO.

I like it. I just don't care for most of the new stuff.

It's my favorite kind, followed by metal. But the new, whiny, cry-ish, crappy songs from the guys who sound like they have had their balls removed suck. Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Dirks Bently, and Gary Allen are good if you want good records that ain't a bunch of estrogen laced cry country music.
-And- they ain't singing about how they want to go cut themselves and shit.
 
Country music is a bunch of sentimental glurge and red-state lifestyle propaganda.
