I'm just saying just because something has double the HP doesn't mean it is faster..More powerful Yes

Typically speaking, power = torque and speed = HP/weight

Gearing usually reserves 'quickness' an isotope of speed.

Your 1/4 mile bike will have vastly different gearing than your world superbike.

I ride a Ducati 916, but not often. It's only got 4k miles.
Used to have a Hayabusa but sold it.

Looking at replcaing the Busa with either the XX or maybe go over to the ducks again and get 749S.

Oh, I have a track only Aprilia 250.

I would go with the XX, and by XX I assume you mean the CBR1100XX. This is one sweet bike. It propably has the highest level of refinement, fit, finish, and reliability of any sport/touring bike sold today. Needless to say i own one and it's simply amazing. The Engine is double counter balanced and the bike struck me as so smooth it might as well be electric.

I know this is one bike you will never be sorry about owning. I ride it like hell and had it up to 170 with room to spare and even my 140lb GF rides it to school from time to time. I also commute to work on it during the summer and would not trade it for anything else.

I've ridden it three times now and it rocks.
A buddy owns one and he swears by it.

It rides smooth, handles well and picks up wicked fast.

I wouldn't recommend it; the XX is the heaviest and oldest of the 3 big bikes out there (Hayabusa, ZX-12, CBR XX)

xx 492
hayabusa 480 lbs.
ZX-12 460 lbs.

The XX is almost unchanged since like 1999.

If I was intent on an open-class sport tourer, I'd make it the ZX-12

The ZX-12 rides thick. I don't know how else to explain it, but thats how it feels to me.

I know what you are saying, but the differences in weight are marginal and they only tell half the story. The XX is a superbly crafted machine and it's weight is distributed really well with a very low center of gravity, so as far as real life ridability goes this is a non issue.
Now as far as the age issue, newer is not always better, the CBR1100xx engine is still the smoothest and most reliable of the 3 bikes, that is a fact. I have experience with all 3 in this class and the CBR XX has the best all around power plant bar none, and i am not talking and throwing opinions from reading articles and comparing specs, but real life use.. Also the cbr is still a 1100cc engine, the other 2 opted for more displacement, that does not make their power plants better, just bigger. I will say it again, anyone that rides the XX will be shocked at the level of refinement in the Engine, NOT A SINGLE VIBRATION, it's really strange at times, you hear the engine so you know it's there, but you could swear the bike is electric.
Honda really did their homework on this bike and got it right the first time, that is why more changes were not necessary from year to year, this bike excells in daily use can run close to 180MPH and runs the 1/4 in low 10's. Add to that owners with close 100,000 miles on their xx's with NO ENGINE problems, and in some cases no Valve adjustements EVER.
I would also like to point out that most poeple get bikes only for bragging rights on what they ride, when in fact 99% of riders, especially of the big 3 will never even scrape pegs on their machines. So it' important to be honest with yourself and get the best bike for you, and not necessarily fastest.

Has anyone ridden the New Gixxer 600?

Dude,

Kawasaki, honda, and yamaha all came up with new and redesigned machines.(600's)

Suzuki was the only manufacturer out of the "Big 4" to not come out with a new 600, but a brand spanking new gixxer 600 should be in the works for next year.

So if you were in the market for a NEW 600 get a honda, yamaha, or kawi.

Or else wait till next year for a new gixxer 600.

But thats just me.
