I know what you are saying, but the differences in weight are marginal and they only tell half the story. The XX is a superbly crafted machine and it's weight is distributed really well with a very low center of gravity, so as far as real life ridability goes this is a non issue.
Now as far as the age issue, newer is not always better, the CBR1100xx engine is still the smoothest and most reliable of the 3 bikes, that is a fact. I have experience with all 3 in this class and the CBR XX has the best all around power plant bar none, and i am not talking and throwing opinions from reading articles and comparing specs, but real life use.. Also the cbr is still a 1100cc engine, the other 2 opted for more displacement, that does not make their power plants better, just bigger. I will say it again, anyone that rides the XX will be shocked at the level of refinement in the Engine, NOT A SINGLE VIBRATION, it's really strange at times, you hear the engine so you know it's there, but you could swear the bike is electric.
Honda really did their homework on this bike and got it right the first time, that is why more changes were not necessary from year to year, this bike excells in daily use can run close to 180MPH and runs the 1/4 in low 10's. Add to that owners with close 100,000 miles on their xx's with NO ENGINE problems, and in some cases no Valve adjustements EVER.
I would also like to point out that most poeple get bikes only for bragging rights on what they ride, when in fact 99% of riders, especially of the big 3 will never even scrape pegs on their machines. So it' important to be honest with yourself and get the best bike for you, and not necessarily fastest.
