and I need advice. This will be my first time skiing. It's sad, I've lived a half an hour away from slopes, but I never skied. Any advice for a first time skier besides the obvious "Don't fall and bust your ass"?
fuck yeah. although I would like to see some snow, for once in my life. living in sunny california all my life, I have not seen one hint of snow, even though snowboarding and other snow sports is pretty big down here...
1. Make sure your boots are just a little tight but comfortable.
2. Make sure your bindings are setup for a beginner
3. make sure you rent shaped beginner skis with lots of "forgiveness", for beginners.
4. Keep in mind the basic maneuver of "snow plowing" and the "schuss"
5. and finally check out www.ifyouski.com, study it, understand it and memorize it.
It's an excellent sport, you will love it more and more as you get better. Be prepared for frightning acceleration. And one last thing, you will be sore in places you did not know you could get sore.
