Glad you're sounding like it went well! Personally, I don't see how it makes sense to tell you to stay out of the gym for that long. I understand not ripping the stitches, but that shouldn't be such a threat after a week, unless you have a really long incision and tight skin. The gyno surgery shouldn't touch your pecs; not even the muscle sheath. The gland is on top of the muscle, so all you have cut is the skin. Some doctors are now doing gyno removal with Novocaine in the office, and not even giving any knockout drugs. Incision only 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch. If there's any body fat, that can make it a much bigger job and require digging around, and I can see how that would cause a longer healing time.
I've had several muscle biopsies for scientific experiments... Those are almost the same size incision as the gyno surgery, and I didn't have to stay out of the gym any longer than I wanted to, and I was back in 2 days. They make a 1/2" incision through the skin and into the muscle sheath, and then use a 4-gauge needle to stab into the muscle tissue and pull out a core. My quad hurt like I was hit with a hard driven baseball for a couple days, but nothing to tear or damage. My delt hurt worse, and I didn't let them do another biopsy there. I had two stitches for the ones on my quads, and only a special band-aid for my delt.
I think that a lot of the doctor's fear of your activity after the surgery is of a lawsuit if you hurt yourself, more than actual medical need.
