I was amazed it wasn't an 18 and over site by the terms of service based on the advertised content. It's a US site that is based on illegal drug use and has porno forums(pictures of men/women). Honestly, C&C has been this way since I joined. If you want a high brow forum then membership should be restricted based on academic criteria and clearly enforced; If you have a verifiable Masters then you can join kind of criteria. I don't think anyone on C&C takes it seriously. I don't think I'll change the mind of an evangelical Christian, I just like getting them agitated and watch their arguments..it really makes me laugh!
I think you were missing my point -- I wasn't trying to talk exclusively of EF. I was attempting to make a generalization of the internet and discussion boards in general.
Based on the premises that the internet has and is becoming an integral -- and requireed -- part of of human every day life, and that this includes people of all ages in all walks of life, then the logical conclusion would be to limit certain areas of certain types of discussion -- namely, that which is obscene and not allowed in basically every other area and walk of life.
Tell me this: in what public areas in life can you walk up to a random stranger and tell them to "show your breasts!" and expect absolutely no negative repercussions?
Work? No.
Subway? No.
School? No.
University? No.
Bars? No.
Club? No.
Hey broly, help me out here... I can't think of any?
