Gear in the oven...NEED QUICK HELP!

I am baking my gear at 250 degrees for 20 minutes with a pin in the top of the vial...is that correct?

Thanks Ult......just baked and shot some prop.......so far feels great......but I'll wait till tommorrow to really see if it works!

Just make sure the pin isn't in contact with the gear itself or it will start leaking out of the end of the pin and you'll lose some gear. leave as little of an air pocket as possible to vent it. Good luck

You can cut the temp to 220,

and watch to make sure the plastic on the needle does not melt at 250 degrees.

Have had that happen.

Imm sure this has been explained over and over, but the exact reason for "baking" gear is what? Doesn't hurt as mucch when you stick it? Is it only used for certain types of gear?

Therory is that the BA will evaporate off some, making shot less painful.

I never thought of that,

This sound crazy, but I was just baking my gear,

And the needle was in fact in the gear, and yes it did come out, so I lost some of it,

But I am actually relived because I thought the needle was melting, and the plastic was dripping in to the gear, what a mess.
