gay, rainbow bumper stickers...

This thread is so stupid its comical.

The "Gay Pride" thing is completly redundant and a foolish ploy to gain in popularity. Nothing more ,nothing less and to compare the "Gay Rights" movement to the "Civil Rights" movement is completly asinine. When I hear this its a statement of utter lack of perspective. There is no comparason, GET OVER IT. Speaking for the str8's I know we all have.

Now I wanna make a bumper sticker with pink upside down triangles and rainbows that say in bold, "Who Really Gives a Rats Ass, shut up already"

:goof: :rainbow:

can you show me a post where you ranted in a similar fashion against 'white pride'?

and how is pasting a tacky gay pride sticker going to prevent the negativity? blacks have faced the same negativity for years. Yet there are still haters out there. Face it, there is always going to be people out there who dislike others. That's life. You can't change racism, or homophobia. It's always going to be there.

I think blacks are more visible, and therefore, don't need a sticker to remind people that they are everywhere, and that gay bashing is not appropriate.

oh ok i got it. i'm reading everything through a smokey, jim beam haze. i do have a sense of humor, i swear.

we seem to be slowly but surely diffusing this conversation about gay pride bumper stickers. not sure whether to feel bad about it or not. my best friend likes to call me "fag chips" and he thinks it's the most hilarious thing he's ever heard in his life. i just kind of look at him like...are you talking? that and "ass prize." *shaking head*

what are you all doing this weekend

StrongChick,

That is just my opinion.. I just think they are trashy... I think I am a walking example of gay pride.. I am openly gay in a industry that is not so forward thinking. I live my pride daily. People accept me, because of the type of person I am, and I have changed many narrow minded people's opinion on what gay people are.

Soo if you want to plaster your car with rainbow stickers, or any other type of sticker go ahead... I just do not want them on mine, because I think they are trashy.. I respect your opinion on this subject, but I think there are a lot better ways to recieve acceptance and spread knowledge. Than plastering your car with rainbows.

Some think the stickers are not representative of the gay movement. Maybe so, maybe not.

It is my opinion that putting a sticker on your car or wearing a t-shirt is not really _doing_ anything....living your life well is the best way to fight anything anti.

However, I don't put those folks who DO wear t-shirts or bumper stickers in the 'trashy' category. I think they serve a purpose..to remind us that everyone is different, regardless if you can tell by outward appearance or not.

Without gay rights groups forcing the issue, I don't think you'd be able to be out in your workplace (unless you worked for a gay centric company). And those same people are probably the ones who invented the rainbow sticker.

yeah, and that won't result in anything like what a concert might.

stand back genius at work.

hey as much as i like crowd-surfing with him, we agreed it was dangerous and might get us thrown out.

and we do enjoy the music so.

When you live in the 'burbs or further out in the country, you often don't feel like you are part of a community. The community around you is primarily str8 and you don't see any signs of the gay community until you head into a city on the weekends, if you have that option.

So for me, seeing a rainbow bumper sticker makes me feel slightly less isolated and reminds me that I am part of a community, even if it isn't always visible.
