Gaining or Overtraining?

New member
This is just a hypothetical split I was thinking of possibly doing to build mass.

Sun
Squats 5x5
Bench Press 4,6,8,10
Pullups 3x10
Shoulder Press 3x8

Tues
Deads 5x5
Rows 3x8
Incline Bench 4,6,8,10
SLDL 4x10

Thurs
Squats 6,8,10,12
Bench Press 5x5
Leg Curls 3x10
Shoulder Press 3x8

Sat
Bicep Curls 10,8,6,4
Dips 3xfailure
Wrist and Grip work
Side Laterals

What do you think, is it too much? I might try it. Thanks for the opinions

i personally dont think that would be over training but perhaps you should do some CG bench also so ur tris get bit more of a work out other then the bench and dips...

I think it looks great and if you choose the poundages wisely and understand the concept of a heavy-light-medium system you will make great gains. This type of routine has worked on thousands of athletes over the years, at all levels, drug-free and not so drug-free. Don't let anyone tell you it is overtraining or too much squatting or too much low back or cut back on the squats or move the deads or do something gay like leg presses. In fact, if you wanted, you could even add in light squats on Tues. before deadliftss.

The things I would change is add light squats on Tues for the first 3 weeks and think about doing dips another day as they may affect your bench press doing them the day before. The Close-Grip suggestion is very solid, I would consider it.....maybe close-grip day 1 and incline day 3 or lose-grip for 3 sets of 8 after day 3's bench work.
