Ford lost 12.7 BILLION dollars in 2006... how will that affect me buying a Tacoma?

You took the words right out of my mouth. Unions are killing many industries!

Also Japanese cars sell more and are made better because they implement programs like Kaizen and Toptech.
Unions are killing and have killed many industries.

The argument is always the same too. The best case that pro-union people can make is to point-out management mistakes and other problems related to specific companies. Its like trying to argue that we shouldn't prosecute murderers because some rapists don't get caught.

Ford is in big trouble, they should have made thier pension plan solvent way back when GM did.

Ford owns practically a piece of everyone - I'm not sure it even matters if the domestics don't sell.

Unless of course one works specifcally for the Ford car company and not an upper end executive.

Buy German cars (support our Payment Balance, we need the exports)

"Ze problem is not ze machine, but ze driver"

Built in Munich - still runs like it did on the test drive.

Face the facts people it is quality and the union wages that are the cuase of the problems.

I know auto workers with nothing but high school education making 35 bucks an hour for doing a job that bobo the chimp can do. That is a joke.

Unions outlived their usefulness over 20 years ago.

That 35 dollar an hour job should be paying 15-20 dollars an hour. By the way this comes from an autoworker who agrees. You will then get those that say well you cannot support a family on 15-20. Well they could have went to school to better themselves to get a better paying job then.

Executives are the not problem. Execs at most Fortune 500 companies make big $ bonus, but they sell a good product.
The product the American car makers are selling is 2nd rate.
The execs at my co make a TON Of money. We made 300 million last year. We are the biggest manuf (of our product) in the world yet are rated 2nd next to the Chinese....why, not cause the execs are taking too much money home, but because our unions strangle us.
We have adopted Kaizen and TopTech and are trying to compete.
Here is a good example of union attitude: I have a huge shipment coming in and the truck shows up at my receiving door at 3:20 pm. My Receiver (union guy) finishes at 3:30 pm. 10 mins to spare and he refuses to unload the truck. The truck driver needs to come back the next day.
This union guy cannot work 10 mins over his allotted time b/c the union tells him not to. He can clock out and still help out the company that has given him a salary for 34 yrs. He takes NO PRIDE in his work!
Take the extra 10 mins past your time and get the product in the back door so production can start at 7:00 am.
I walked into the shop once to carry a box to the shipping dept. One of the union guys filed a grievance against me b/c I was not union and doing a job a union guy could do therefore I was taking work away from them...I WAS CARRYING A BOX 50 ft!
Unions and the unionized people act like royalty and that the world owes them something. This it the fault of the Unions.....period! This is why product in the US and Canada is 2nd rate to most Asia markets

LOL I can't remember where it was but I was told about similar situation where a non union employee wasn't allowed to cross a certain line on the floor into a union work area.

Piss on them, fire them all and hire them back at wages more in line with the work they do.
