Has anyone noticed that when it came to rich white NY getting hit, Bush was lickity split with the help. But, poor black NO gets hit and it just feels like he is dragging his heels. I'm not saying that this is the way it is; only that it feels this way.

Although your last point is undoubtedly true, the projects,prisons, and poverty stricken communities of Southern Louisiana aren't very racially diverse. Makes for an easy slant.

Fact of the matter is that N.O. government is so corrupt. Education is bankrupt, streets are horrible. The damn officials are getting all the money and leaving the public with much of nothing. Yesterday two cops were caught on tv in walmart pushing a cart around with shit in it. when asked what they were doing one cop walks off and the other says were helping to stop looters. As she says this some dude jets by her with a tv in his arms.

ofcourse its a color issue. Fave you watched tv in the past week, for atleast one minute. EVERYONE currently in New Orleans is black. The guy who shot the police officer in the head was black. The guy who attempted to wrestle away a national gaurd soldiers automatic weapon was black. The suspect shooting at hospitals while they evacuate the patient waas black. The people looting electronics stores, pawn shops, etc. are black.

I see your point. When a tragedy happens the State & Local governments are first to respond. New York City is financially better off than the entire State of Louisiana.. The poorest city in NYC is no where near as poor as New Orleans. Basically, the money is there for NYC to design & implement plans needed for different situations. NYC is always prepared for something (whether its a blackout, snowstorm, massive strike, looting, etc.). By the time the Feds arrived to deal with the destruction of 9/11, most of the work was being taken care of by the local government and private businesses that donated their time.

Also, you can't compare 9/11 to the situation in New Orleans. 9/11 was an isolated attack. Yes, it was massive, but it only affected a tiny section of the city. Life still went on in other boroughs and the remaining parts of Manhattan. The infrastructure of NYC was not affected. All of New Orleans is under water and inhabitable.

I do think that they should be moving a lot faster to help everyone in New Orleans. I'm very troubled by the lack of corporate help just as much as I am troubled by how slow the Feds are moving in. Greyhound and other bus companies should be sending buses. Where are Pepsi & Coca-Cola to donate water (yes, they do bottle water)? Where the food companies to donate baby formula and processed foods?
