I'm on my 2nd 5x5 now and swapped my standing M.P.'s on wed. to Incline bench. If you've done this, did you notice better shoulder development and upper chest development w/ the inclines? And did it seem to hamper your 3rd workout w/ flat bench?

I respond pretty well to inclines - development will depend upon the individual (and what he or she is least accustomed too - i.e. if you haven't inclined in years, it might work really well for you). How much impact it has on a Friday workout will depend on how taxing inclines are for you and how taxing your Friday flat bench work is to you. Maybe swapping around 1x5 and 5x5 might help you there if need be and the inclines are going to be taxing. It's pretty individual but if you have some issues you can always lower the load on the incline or adjust in some other way (i.e. 3 heavy sets of 5, and 2 ramp sets of 5 - or a single heavy set of 5). Figure out where your priorities are, see if it's an issue, and make adjustments as needed. Unfortunately, it's a learning thing and you learn by doing (and even then you change over time so you will always be learning to some degree).

thanks. I figured it would be a person to person thing. I think I'll try mp's this week and see how it feels compared to last week.

Or just run it out, you might find that you acclimate quite well. Or not. But results should still be pretty decent providing it wasn't a massive impact the first time. This is not something that's likely to make a big difference to your success.
