Florida

I was in Orlando Fl. a few weeks ago,... loved it. I'm from northern New Jersey, and it's pretty built up around here with goods/services, resturaunts, shopping Malls, ect... Whole lot of stuff to do, and at your sevice all the time. Orlando was nice. The weather is great, & it seemed that the whole damn place is built up like Jersey,... just situated in a different climate year round pretty much. Seriously thinking about moving there sooner or later. Hopefully sooner, somewhere around that centralized area.

I live about an hour away...I LOVE Florida. I would move to California though if I had the opportunity. Florida is awesome....it is too cold up north. Everyone here is so friendly and real.

I live in north Jersey too. I wanted to move to Florida, I LOVED it. The whole atmosphere and people were alot friendlier. If my wife (girlfriend at the time) would have agreed, I would have moved.

everyone loves florida, everyone wan't to move there. and people tend to be more friendly in the south, florida, alabama etc. I'd love to move to florida, I honestly want to move there, just hard to move without having a job first unless you know someone

You don't know anything about Orlando. It is the most cookie cutter place you've ever been.

There is a reason Florida is a great place to visit. We know tourism. We don't know infrastrcutre.

I've been here 2 years. I live in north FL in a very exclusive neighborhood and I am buying a condo in Miami soon. Unless you have a tremendous income ($300K/yr or more - even that might be too low) then this place is not for you. it's a cattle state unless you have money. I am from NY city. I am lucky enough to be able to afford everything this state offers.

It blows here. This state is as redneck-poor-trashy as Alabama or Mississippi. The people aren't "real", they're poor, without culture and stupid.

Except for Miami this state is a zero.

Been there a dozen times. Got a timeshare down there(Buena Vista). have been thinking about moving there for some time now. Friends and relatives that have or currently live there say to make sure you have a secure job before moving there. The jobs don't pay as well as up north, but the cost of living is less too. From what I have heard good jobs are hard to come by, due to the large amount of people constantly movint to and from there. Unless you have a well sought after skill, companies find you expendable.

Florida is a "right to work state", and part of that emans is that your empoyer can fire you whenever the hell they want for no reason at all.

I'm telling you: DON'T COME HERE. it sucks.

Matt The Skywalker,

Then why don't you leave? Where would you rather be? I have traveled all over the WORLD and I lOVE FLORIDA. It's great!

This is coming from someone that lives in Jacksonville.

I disagree with your synopsis, but I understand the motivation.

Ft. Lauderdale is not like that.

Miami is trashy. Assholes been living here for 10 years and still no speaky englishy. Artificial people who are models, were models, or will be models when their gig comes up next week... but waiting tables in the meantime. Fucked up traffic system. Nightclubs that open, close, reopen, close, re-reopen, all in one month... say WELCOME back to a disguised Freaknik event when Rappers Music Convention comes to town... fucking Overtown and their overflowing rejects... South Beach is ok... if only you are a sunlizard and don't expect much from the riff raff you may pick up.... Miami died the same day Versace did. It is like stepping back into the 80's. Hell St. Augustine has more culture than Miami.

That's true...I live in SOuth Florida for the only reason that i love this weather...but this south area of Miami really sucks!...it is full of FREAK people with a very strange culture...they dance very weird movements and rythms, they drink alcohol like if it's water, Colombians sell drugs everywhere, it is a very freak and scary world down here...I'm planning to move soon to the north maybe around Orlando or gainsville. Salary's are very low here in Miami area too because with time immigrants have turned this town in a South american system. They make you work a lot but paying as minimum as possible. A lot of people here work ilegally here too. They don't have any papers so they accept any salary. And of course other immigrants that have years here take advantage of that and they make money using people as slaves. Traffic congestion here is unbelivable. There are the same expressways built about 25-30 years ago by Americans. Since this city almost don't make enough money and a lot of that i think it is stolen, they don't have budget to build new and better Highways. well this is a jungle but the weather rocks!!....

When this is over I am going to Los Angeles and when I am done there, back to NY city.

I can't leave now, I have business obligations here. A few more years is all I need.

LOL. My policy when I have time off is "anything but Jax".

I do live on literally the most exclusive street in the city in a 6000 square foot Spanish castle. I am doing what I can. It doesn't help. It does ease pain though.

That's a pretty good analysis. When I say "Miami" I mean South Beach. I am sure you knew that....I wasn't referring to Liberty City. :)

Quickly give me a run down on why you hate Jacksonville so much if you dont mind....

No shopping, no culture, dominated by the Baptist Church, no nightlife (bars close at 130). 5 or 6 good restaurants.

That's off the top of my head.

Although I only know you in the Internet chat board sense, you make about the 12 th JVille resident that can't stand the place.

No one I have even known that has lived there liked it at all. They all despised the place.

Although I do think it's a good smoke screen!

FLORIDA SUCKS, move to California instead.

Sounds like Northern Florida to me....

It;s an international city. Real restaruants, culture etc.

Ft Lauderdale is like Long Island, 10 years ago.

I can't leave Jacksonville - I hae business obligations here. It makes sense for our busienss to be here.

But it sucks. Even at the high end.

SoBe used to be a really cool place to visit but now it's all strollers, Gap and The Sunglass Hut. You can get that in any strip mall anywhere in the US. No thanks.

Hellorhighwater (an Asshole who's been living here for 10 years and still no speaky englishy so mucha).

Shopping is getting a bit better, but the rest of this could apply to the entire State IMO..

You can still find places out in the middle of no where offroad all over the state that are very very remote, beautiful and wild if you are into that.
Just don't go there in the dead of Summer unless you like sweat and insect bites.

Jacksonville ain't even "real" Florida. It is mostly Alabama and Tennessee retirees living on golf courses.

South Beach and Collins Avenue is ok if you like below average hookers with inflated egos and self worth.... teenage wannabee Cuban drug dealers, street artists, cafes that make most of their "drinks" (i.e. margaritas, cosmos..etc..) with white wine instead of vodka... (just ask them why)... dumpy little clubs that act like British Royalty are congregating inside and when you finally make it past the door - it ain't shit to look at. Reminds me of Key West 15 years ago.
