Flaxseed Oil Gelcaps - any opinions?

found Flaxseed Oil gelcaps in the grocery store. 1000mg each, bottle of 100 for $9. couldn't find any actual flaxseed oil while i was there, and the only other thing they had was flaxseed meal, which i almost got til i found this. the breakdown is almost identical to the flaxseed oil sold on www.proteinfactory.com. i didn't think it was too bad of a price. but...

how well do capsules compare to an actual liquid? for most things i've ever taken, liquid and capsule form seem to be pretty close. best comparison i can make is between ny-quil and the ny-quil capsules. the capsules don't hit you quite as hard, but usually seem to last a bit longer. i figured taking flaxseed oil in capsule shouldn't be much different than liquid, but could always be wrong. anyone have any input on this?

Mr.X recommended i take 1 tbsp of flaxseed oil a day, and one of these capsules would be equal to that. plus i wouldn't have to taste it (havn't tried it yet, as far as i know, it could be decent or just downright disgusting). thanks for any input.

Mr.X recommended i take 1 tbsp of flaxseed oil a day, and one of these capsules would be equal to that. not really: 1 cap = 1000mg flax = 1g flaxseed; 1tbsp. flaxseed = 13g flax; thus, you need 13 caps per 1 tbsp.

WHOA! i'm not gonna swallow 13 of these in a day. thought the caps would be an easy way, ya know, one or two caps a day and i'd be ok. well, i tried. now i know. guess a few of these a day won't hurt, but guess i'm gonna have to order some now to make this a little easier than swallowing 13 capsules a day. thanks for the math conversion, i didn't even think of that.

Buy ,a bottle
and keep it refrigerated
(and hold your breath when you take it :D )

Actually a tbs has 14 grams, so 14 gel-caps= 1 tbs. Hmmm... I'm on 8 tbs a day, so that would be 132 gel-caps every day. No gel caps are not cost effective at all, and I have no use for them.

Anthrax - hold my breath when i take it? oh great, that sounds encouraging!

BBF - yeah, see, i thought gel caps would be effective too. well, they would be, if i wanted to swallow 13-14 of them daily. same with the L-Glutimine, which i have 500mg tabs, but taking 2 of them a day isn't enough. i'm going to be getting the Glutamine probably in powder form real soon.

what about flaxseed meal? the grocery store had some of that too. i'm gonna end up buying the oil, but the meal seemed kinda interesting, as it said to add it to different foods, cereals or whatever. think the recommended serving size on it was 2 tbsp but i don't remember the nutrition numbers on it, and that's what's the most important.

thanks.

Depending on the concentration; the type I and my clients use is 13g/tbsp.

btw...8tbs. x 14 caps per tbsp. (assuming your 14g) = 112 caps
