First time in a bench shirt

I tried a bench shirt for the first time. I got my Inzer blast
shirt the other day. Was going to try it out but my lifting partner
wanted me to try his 2X denim instead. The shirt was too big
for me. My lifting partner is a 275'er and I am a 220'er.

I warmed up and then tried 275. Got the bar to touch and the
weight was easy. Note: I have done a max of 305 touch and
go. Went to 315. I have never tried a weight this heavy. Got
the weight to touch, paused and then the friggin weight went
straight to my face. My partner caught the weight. Tried 315
again and this time after the pause, I pushed the weight up
over my stomach. This time I got the weight up and locked
where it was supposed to be.

315 is a PR for me. When I get used to this shirt thing and
put on one that fits properly, I feel like the sky is the limit. :)

I ordered my first bench shirt and I should be getting it in the mail soon. I can't wait to try it out. My bench has gone nowhere for months, and I've been trying a number of different things to try to get it to go up. I want added confidence boost from trying out a shirt.

You are in the same weight range as me. What training are you doing for bench currently?
 
Skizac, I am new to WS. Have done 4 ME bench workouts to
date. Today, I will do the 5th. The workouts follow:

1) Pin presses set at about 1/2 way - 270 max single.
2) Decline bench, full range - 295 max single.
3) Floor presses in the power rack - 285 max single, missed 295.
4) Reverse blue band bench in power rack - 365 max, missed 405.
5) Board presses later today.

Before WS, I was doing a bb style workout for chest/bench. I
was a pec bencher.

The DE bench day workouts have been with bands or chains.

My shirt is an Inzer Blast. Did not use it. Used my lifting partners
2X denim. It was not tight. That is probably why I could get the
weight on my upper abs with no trouble.

The shirt was loose but I still got something out of it. I will get
more out of the shirt as I learn to use it.

The shirt has really helped my confidence. My bench will start to
move now.

Good luck with your new shirt. It really makes a difference.
 
Glad you got to feel a shirt. Now get one that fits right and then the sky's the limit!

Congrats on building the confidence meter. That means alot when it comes to pushing weight. Without it your just half cocked!
 
Powerlifterjay, I appreciate all of the advice you gave me
concerning the shirt. It motivated me to start using a shirt
sooner than I probably would have.
