Finding the best price for protein...

troy2001

With my GNC employee discount, if I buy two big jugs of Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein (buy one get one half off), the price per gram of protein comes to $0.014 per gram of protein - and that includes tax.

The purpose of this thread is to see if anyone can find a better per gram price on the net. Remember to include shipping and handling. Some sites will ship free if you order a certain amount. So here's the formula to find price per gram:

total price
---------------------------- = price per gram
total grams of protein

Please include any type of protein. This should help people find some good deals. And don't forget to mention where you found the price.

i would stay away from the gnc protein. its okay but not much protein. i am taking optimum nutrition's pro complex. 55g protein, ony 2 fat and 4g carbs. i buy the 4.5lb tub for 42.00. its somewhat pricey but for the amount of protein you get per seving and amount of servings; 34, you really can't go wrong.

Opinion about the Protein Factory

:( :( :( Here's why you might not want to buy protein, or anything else, from Protein Factory:

About July 23rd, I talked with Alex (the owner? of P.F.) and told him I needed CFM Whey Isolates for my father who has ESRD (End Stage Renal Dysfunction). He quoted me prices and turned me over to Eva, his assistant. I ordered 5lbs (1 lb ea. of choc, van. orange, banana, and unflavored). Eva quoted me shipping for UPS Ground, UPS 3day, and USPS Priority Mail. I chose Pr. Mail, since it was $5 cheaper than UPS 3day and my experience is that Pr. Mail takes only 2 to 3 days from the East Coast. Eva quoted me a total including the shipping and said my order would go out the next day.

After a week, I had not received my order. I called. Eva answered and said, "They had to wait until they went to the post office and that was just yesterday." I reminded her that she told me it would go out the next day and that the reason I chose and paid extra for Pr. Mail was to get it faster than UPS Ground. She put me on hold. Alex got on the line and told me, "We do each order custom and it can take up to a week to prepare." I told him that I wasn't told that. He said, "Well, it went out yesterday, so you'll get it in a few days." (It seems funny that a simple 5lb. order would take a week to prepare).

After another week, I still had not received the order. I tried calling Alex, but was told he was busy. So, I faxed Alex to complain about the non-receipt of my order. I stated what had already occurred and that I needed the protein to help my father with his kidney failure. Alex faxed me back. In a short sentence he half-apologized for the "inconveniences" and then spent 3 paragraphs going on about how this is going to cause "him" problems. He said that despite the "misunderstandings" I was going to get my protein. He said he "hoped I would understand the mishap." In a fax, I replied that if my shipment had gone out when I was told it would (and noted that his website states that all orders go out within 2 days), then I would have had the protein 10 days ago. I said I wouldn't be unreasonable and expect him to "overnight" it to me, but that I would appreciate it if he got it to me within 3 days, using whichever route he wanted (i.e., UPS 3day or USPS Pr. Mail).

Now STILL ANOTHER WEEK has gone by and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED my order. Nor have I received any response from Alex. (This has all the earmarks of a con. Fortunately, I paid with a MasterCard, so the charge will be reversed). I would advise anyone planning to do business with the Protein Factory to be very careful AND only pay by credit card.

Opinion about the Protein Factory

I've ordered from them before with no problem. I've had similar problems with other companies though. And it always seemed to be just before the company went out of business.

With all the competition on the net I don't see how a lot of them are still in business. Not just the supplement industry, but all the retail dot.coms.

I'm on tons of email lists from dot.coms and am always getting super deals. I got 7 pounds of whey, creatine, and vitamins a while back for around 35 bucks including shipping. I also got a Hamiliton Beach blender with a glass jar for 19.99 yesterday. I bought 2. There is so much stuff on the net that companies are dumping from inventory. You just have to be at the right place at the right time.

once it took me 3 weeks to get my simple 5 pound order!! i was pissed. i called after a week and they gave me an excuse, called the next week and they said it was my credit card they still needed to approve.

This has happened a few times already. When i order from them it could be there in a week, or it can take as long as a month. Funny thing is they have all your info including your phone numbr and when they run into problems they don't even bother to call.

p.s. i think the "problems" they run into are all excuses

i had a similar problem with the protein factory, I live in arizona and I know they're located on the east coast, but I ended up waiting almost two weeks for an order from them. The bad part is when I order from dps nutrion which is also located on the east coast it only takes a week to get my products from them ( dps ) then the last order I placed with the PF, i get a call from them 5 days after I placed the order and they tell me that they had a problem with my credit card, I still had credit on it and it wasn't expired, so I find out that they copied the number wrong when I placed my order so if you do order with them be careful if you get a woman taking your order, she doesn't really know what she's talking about because when i asked her for an order mixture including casein, she didn't even know what casein was, so beware and careful when ordering with them, WHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL TOPIC ABOUT, LOWEST PROTEIN PRICES?:(

bro funny part of it is that they at proteinfactory gave me that "oh your credit card didn't go through" crap, when i know all my cards are good. Then i tell them, "hey well let me give you another damn card, which is the one i placed my order w/? or what was the number i gave you" and they tell me, "Uhhh... i don't know" so that makes me think... do they have their head stuck up their ass up there or is it just w/ me they play these games?
