Its weird, but even though we have more choices than any other generation in history, and I even have the 2nd largest package on dish network, I turn on the TV and I either have no interest in anything, or it just wreaks of advertising crap.
Behind the ostensibility of the vast amount of choices one has today, there appears to same advertising imperative, to infiltrate consumer consciousness with advertising propaganda.
I know this is not groundbreaking news, but one clear cut example that comes to mind was way back in the day when a cigarette company, lucky strike, sponsored the show I Love Lucy, the show was so much of a hit, that the audience was laughing so hard, that they ignored the commercials, as a result lucky strike pulled the show in its very peak... now due to this phenomenon, successful shows such as friends or seinfeld are witty, but much more subdued.
Digressing, but I grew up on TV, and now I find myself watching less and less, except sports. What was your favorite television series ever?
I notice all mine reflect my teenage years
