Fat loss - Round 2

Monday, I'm at 186.5. Not too bad. I've dropped the protein only thing, added a little oat bran to my 3 carb 50 protein drinks.

Feeling good, back on ephedrine, which seems to elevate my mood.

Week 7 of my diet, and things are still strong. I like the no cheat day routine, it makes things easier after a while.

I'm just waiting for that fat around my abs to go, and then hoping the chest fat under my nips will die down a little. I hate that stuff more than anything in the world. I figure I'll be doing this another 10 weeks. But that's ok, the diets not too hard anymore. It's just the patience for time to go by, that's HARD.

Anyway, I'll check in with you guys again tomorrow.
 
Well, 2 days later, and I'm at 185.4. Still going strong, beef, protein drinks with oat bran. Losing fat, but damn, Halloweens coming up and I don't think I'm going to be in shape enough for a really sweet costume.

We'll see how I look in 10 more days, I really think it's going to be another 9-10 weeks before I look the way I want. So much fat, so little time. :)

How you guys doing?
 
Hey SOEX... a lb in 2 days... not bad bro ;)!

I've had a great week so far... tons of gut busting/almost fainting AM cardio, and a kick-ass workout today followed by a nice carb refeed meal. The true test will come Monday morning though... keep it up bros...
 
Congrats SOEX and Cuts. Me this week has been mediocre, couldn't run yesterday cause of the rain, and I think I am still coming down with the flu. Went ahead and ate some carbs last night hoping that my body would battle this shit out of me. No Luck, maybe I can run it out this morning.

Last I weighed I was down to 228. So small progress this week, I think I need to get into ketosis for two weeks at a time, my body doesn't seem to go back in for awhile after eating carbs.
 
Thanks guys. But I'm worried I'm losing muscle in there too. I can be honest though, I'd rather be SUPER lean and have a little of my muscle left than fat and have all of it. I'm pretty confident I can build it back without gaining weight, just going to take some time. Self esteem reasons, I'm much better off being lean. :)

Also, if you guys want to know my workout routine I'll post it below.

Daily I do:
*32 sets of weights (whatever happens to be not hurting at the time)
*600 sit ups/crunches (200 full situps on a inclined bench, then 400 little rolly crunchy things that my gym has)
*10 miles on a bike, with my HR at about 150-170 (170 is hard!)
*15-20 minutes of stretching afterwards.

I also play hockey 2 times a week, and practice once a week.

I go to the gym 2 times a day 4 days out of the week. Cut those numbers in half for thurs, sat and sun. May seem like over training, but the more I'm in there, the more motivated I am. If I'm doing work, I'm thinking about the rewards. The more I think of those rewards, the more I want them. :)

9 days till Club Rubber comes to San Diego! I want to look lean! Don't know if I'll make it, but thankfully the costume I want to wear covers me anyway. It sure would be sweet to be able to show a little bod off though. Eh, I can wait till new years. :)

Guys, we can do this easy. Secret, keep yourself busy. Don't let the cravings kick in. If you start getting food cravings, go to the lake/beach/park. Relax in the sun, or something like that. The more you keep your mind busy, the less time you have to think about food. :)
 
Just got back from the gym, today is normally my day off, but being 9 days, there are no more days off...

Thinking about adding more carbs, but not sure if it'll really matter in the long run. I'm liking the progress, albeit slow. Guess I'll just do some rebuilding with super lowfat, mod carb, high protein after the diet when everything is gone. Better thin that fat. :)

I tend to obsess over things. :)

Being that I'm recently single, I kinda went nuts. But now it's really turned into something I want. I've challenged myself, I can't back down. I look forward to my gym times now, I'm actually bummed I'm going to be working tonight, so I'm not able to go again.

I'm probably overtraining, but I really feel good. My body seems to be getting into great shape.

Hey Fonz quick question for you man: what is your formula for fat loss and muscle maintenance? Low/no carb with refeeds? Or more "balanced" caloric restriction like a BFL-type diet?

Balanced caloric restriction and Tren.

When BF drops below 6%, you have to start rotating carbs.
Or add DNP :)

It ends up being around 2.5 to 3 hours.

I have a thing with not being able to stand extended times doing cardio. I get so freakin bored it's stupid. So I instead substatute a lot of weights, and tons of abs with very little wait time inbetween. With my dieting, I don't think it's going to matter a whole lot if I can lift super heavy, I'm kinda weak anyway right now.

The biggest thing for me is getting into the gym. From there, it flows. If I don't go in though, I'll lose motivation. So I go everyday, 2 times if I can. It's mostly a self esteem battle for me. I really have a warped body image. Most people would say I'm pretty lean right now. Veins clearly visible on my arms, very little fat on my legs, some fat on my lower abs, but with the line down the center visible.

I think I'm really fat because I can't see my abs perfectly and distinctly. I also have a problem with pectoral fat, and I'm very embarrassed about that. It's probably the same amount of fat that is on my lower abs.

But this diet is easy to stay on. I don't have cravings, I don't have any problems. My company has free donuts and bagels in the break room right now, and I can walk right by them without really even being tempted. So it's just a matter of time. I've come an amazingly long way, but I'm way past the point of no return. I have to finish, or I'll never forgive myself.
 
Quick update.

Today I'm 183.7.

Usually don't update over the weekend, but I'll try to take weight mesurements daily anyway at roughly the same time so it's consistent.

Going to go to the gym one more time after work. Gotta get those abs cranking again. :) I love my ab workouts, my stomach feels so flat afterwards. If only it'd stick all day. :)

Shit man... I wish I had genes like that... I actually was born with Dunlap's disease, so it makes it really tough for me to get my abs visible... I've never actually seen them, but I'm pretty sure they're down there somewhere.

O.k., enough excuses... Fonz I know you know how long I've been trying to get lean... ever since I was a DNP virgin and you were giving me advice way back :)!

Speaking of DNP, it IS getting cold again... hmmm...
 
Arms suck right now due to breaking both ulna and radius in my right arm. Freakin' hockey. :)

Chest sucks ass because of pectoral fat (store a LOT there).

Abs are fine, but under a layer of fat so I can't see them yet, hence the reason I'm dieting.

Legs have never been big, but they're alright I suppose. We'll see when I get leaner how they look.

If anything, my best muscles are my freakin' hamstrings. They're naturally really big, and I don't really care a thing about them either. :(

Anyway, over the weekend, another good time. No cheating, did some drinking but danced for about 2 hours straight, so I doubt I really put anything on from it. Kept it to hard alcohol or long island iced teas to try to keep the carbs down. Didn't eat anything before or after the drinking so I wouldn't store fat.

Worked out 2 times over the weekend, and I can finally do arms again. Seems like 4 months is the magic time for my arm to be completely healed.

Back to the schedule of 2 workouts a day, and I'm happy to be back. :) Don't know how much I weigh yet though.

If I start dropping below 180, which I'm sure I'll do, I'm just going to start ignoring the scale and use the mirror. Otherwise I might lose the mental battle and think I need to build. Building can come later, it'll be slow, but I think I'm getting used to slow with this diet. :)

Hey guys, question for you...

What's your take on refeeds? Do you guys do them? Or do you just stick your diet out and be patient?

So far in 2 months I've done 1 refeed, but I feel like I'm slowing down a little on the fat loss, so I've scheduled one for Sunday.

I'm going to eat all carb, no fat foods. Such as pretzels, breads (maybe a little fat in bread), ice cream (no fat, no sugar added), pudding, cereal, jello, stuff like that. Things that are simple to burn, high GI carbs.

I'm not 100% sure about leptin, but I'm thinking about going to refeeds every 2 weeks. I think I'm around 15%, so I figure I need to get those leptin marks back up.

What's your guys take on Leptin and Refeeds?

Doing a refeed today. Feeling great, had a wonderful lunch workout. Have tons of energy, and ready to go back to all meats again.

Have my other dieters dropped out on me? Come on guys, give us an update!

BTW, I think I'm going to start tanning next month. I'm tired of seeing my butt white skin. :)
 
Hey bro... glad to see you're doing well. I dunno what's up with me... I seem to be losing fat fast for a few days and then BAM--nothing... I look the same and look and feel like I'm losing muscle and the fat's sticking. Maybe I need to up my cals slightly and carb refeed more frequently. I am, however, still down 1.5 lbs and 3/4" from my waist since last week. Gonna get back on the NYC soon...
 
UPDATE:

Well, I'm 181.8 today. Getting pretty low again.

The weekend went fine, diet is easy. Drank a little alcohol on saturday, but once again danced it off. We went to dennys after dancing, and I just had ice tea. Since I had just drank, I knew I had tons of fuel to burn, so didn't want to add any fat or anything like that to have to burn back off. Sunday night I had a nice rib roast and some wonderful green beans. Took sunday off, that was the first time in 17 days that I hadn't worked out. Felt good to relax, and got me motivated back in the gym today.

Today was fine as well. Only had 2 peices of meat so far, so I'm going to have to cook a little more tonight. I'm irritated because the fridge at home froze over, so I've got to get it fixed. It makes cooking the night before trouble. Not that big a deal though.

Well, I'm getting pretty small overall. But that's ok with me right now. I know I can build it all back if I slowly introduce carbs back to the diet. I'm just concerned with getting that 6 pack back and getting the chest fat to go away. Once that's done, I'll be eating some pastas and potatos. Slowly but surely. I'm not as interested as I used to be about immediate results, and I think that's going to be much more healthy for me.

How's everyone else doing? Seems like I'm the only one posting anymore...
 
Hey bro... I'm still alive and kicking... I am still losing, but not at the pace I was at the start... I guess that first 5-10 lbs IS usually the easiest to lose, then it's normal to slow down??? I hope this is the case anyway.

Soex, I like what you said about "being healthy" rather than losing fat as fast as possible. That's pretty much what I'm doing now... slowly but surely it's coming off, and I still feel good and energized throughout the day since I'm not restricting my carbs too much... I can still workout, study, think, etc. Keep it up bros, cuz I for sure am ;)... later
 
So whats goin on now boys? I'm back to my regular diet now, and packed on some water weight thanks to creatine!

Starting to tan once my oxsolaren(Tanning enhancer)
gets here.

20mg 1-2 hrs before tanning. With this stuff you're bronzed
with only 2 20min sessions week.

I'm also a slightly difficult tanner, and I plan to start tanning next month. I'd love to be able to bronze up a little without the redness that usually associates itself with 15 minutes on the bed.

Is it somehow a melanin enhancer?

Good workout, diets fine. Although I might be getting a little sick. I'm going to keep fighting it though.

Nice to be getting my strength back from my broken arm. I'm back to 70 pound dumbells on my incline press. Just about 2 weeks ago I was at 55 and struggling.





Fonz, I looked all over for that stuff, and I couldn't find it anywhere on the web. Not even any information. I've searched this site as well, so I'm hoping you can open up some doors of knowlege for me.

Yes, thats excatly what it does.

It increases melanin production and melanin skin content.

Reduces tanning time by 50%.

I hate going to the tanning booth because its always filled with women. They always stare out you like you're some martian :)

They're all 30-40 too.

With oxsolaren, 2X/week 15-20min and you're golden brown.

Without it, its 4X/week at least.

Not too expensive either: $25/ 50 10mg tabs

from your doctor. (He just won't prescribe it for waht you want to use it for. You could still ask.......but its doubtful.)

You can actually buy it cheap in Mexico.

I was actually strip searched by the mexican gov't there once. Bleh.

UPDATE -
180.0 today. Still going down. Strength is still going up which is nice. I think it's just the muscles getting back into shape now that I can use my arm again.

Diet is still going strong, about 4 pieces of steak a day, and 3 protein drinks with oat bran (gotta keep those insides moving a little bit).

Next carb up is in a week. I like the 2 week carb up spread, it helps me really be able to check my progress. If I carb up more often, I end up holding too much water and second guess myself.

I've actually added ALA to my diet. I'm taking 200mg every meal. Even though I'm taking in about 100g of carbs. I don't know if that will help or not, but I'm still going to do it.

I've also been getting a little sick it feels like. It's always worst in the late evenings and the mornings. But I don't think it'll over come me. I rarely get beaten by sickness.

Hope you guys are doing well too. Keep up the good work!
 
Weighed in this morning and I'm the same friggin weight I was last week! I am down 1% bf but still... I'm pissed. I think I need to switch up my routine a bit... I'm gonna try workouts like those Men's Health guys do... that's what I wanna look like anyway.

Hey Fonz... your physique is like a Men's Health model right? What kind of workouts do you do? B/c most of them claim to lift relatively light for higher reps, and don't rest much in b/w sets, and workout only 2-3 times/week, everything at once... is that what you do, or do follow a more orthodox "bodybulider" routine with heavy weights and faillure sets and 2-3 minutes and once/week bodypart workouts?

Back up a little. Had a terrible workout today. Yesterday, I worked out for lunch, had a hockey game that night, and then went dancing for a couple hours. When I was dancing I didn't drink any alcohol though. Big named DJ was in town, and I had to see him. :)

The unfortunate part is I only got 4 hours of sleep. I'm running off of ephedrine right now, and my body is paying for it. I did some shoulders today, made it through 16 sets, but everything aches. Rarely do my muscles actually ache. I also tried to do cardio, but after 5 minutes I just couldn't do it anymore. I didn't even do my abs!

I think today is going to be a rest day, but I've got a freakin party to go to tonight. I don't know if it'll even be that much fun, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway. Hopefully I'll have time to rest up before I actually go.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm doing too much work and not having enough calories. I'm typically around 1800-1900 cals a day. But that's between working out 1-3 times a day as well with one day off.

Hopefully I still lose that fat. I hate fat more than anything in the world practically now.

Hey, you notice one of the biggest problems with the stomach fat now is loose skin? Like it looks ok when you're standing, but when you sit it still kinda folds?

That's my biggest problem now. I can see my upper 4 abs, and my lower 2 are just peaking. But when I sit it seems like I can grab handfuls of skin. Sucks.

Anyway, I guess it's all with time like everything else. :)

Its not really loose skin.

Unless you're VERY overweight when you being to diet. Its just
a stubborn fat pocket.

Carb depletion = flat and flabby looking

Yohimburn usually gets rid of that problem easily.

Better workout today than yesterday. I think it's not the sleep that I missed, I think it's just a little bit of sickness. But things are still moving along. Slowly but surely.

Diets going well, next wednesday will be a refeed day. Looking forward to that. :)

Not much else to say other than that. Hopefully you guys are all doing well. This weekend is going to be fun I think. Party tonight, then tomorrow just relax and probably go to the beach or something. Sunday will be football!

I gained a little over the weekend. Had a cheat meal saturday night, but don't have any desire for anymore. Thankfully it was a planned cheat meal, and not something that I didn't know was going to happen.

Worked out well over the weekend, had a great workout today. Going to go again after work and hopefully work off a few more of those calories I put on from the cheat meal. I've gone back to the diet, and glad to be back on it. It's really easy. :)

I'm hoping by another 2 weeks my abs will be pretty defined. I'm now like 33 inch waist after being a 37 inch waiste when I started.

Got a hockey game tonight, so that'll add some more cardio to todays work. I'm getting pretty happy with the way my body is looking, so things are starting to go even better. I'm not as obsessive as I was, so time feels like it goes by a little quicker. By christmas I should be looking pretty damned good.

I've also started tanning. I hate the start of tanning because I burn pretty bad. Just yesterday I only did 12 minutes, and I'm a nice lobster red today. :) Probably just go in for like 8 minutes or so today. That way I'm not too bad off.

One day this week I was thinking about just doing protein drinks to empty out my stomach. I like to do that so I can flatten everything out and gauge how I'm doing.

Anyway, I'll let you guys know what's new tomorrow. Hopefully a little weight will have gone, I have the feeling I'm holding a little water. :)

Well, back down to 180, but I'm still not looking quite as good as last week. Course, it is hard to tell with how red I am. I'm not tanning today because I'm FRIED! I should not have gone in yesterday, but of course I was an idiot and did it anyway.

Yesterday I went nuts. I worked out for lunch, did 16 sets of triceps, 15 minutes of cardio on a bike, and 400 situps. Came home and went again, did 16 sets of Biceps, 15 minutes of cardio with heart rate above 170, and 400 more situps. After that I went and played in my hockey league for 40 minutes (2 halves).

So if I go by what fit day says, just in activities alone, I burned around 1000 calories yesterday.

Today I did another 16 sets, but of calves, 15 minutes cardio at about 150bpm, and 400 more situps. I'll go again tonight and do 16 sets of back, 15 minutes of cardio, and then another 400 situps.

Just so you guys know, my diet is still the following:

8am - 4 ounce steak, lean only
10am - 57g protein drink with 27g carb oat bran
12pm - 4 ounce steak, lean only
2pm - same protein drink as above
4pm - 4 ounce steak, lean only (the steak is eye of round btw)
6-7pm - same protein drink as above
8-9pm - some chicken soup I made with chicken breast, cabage, green beans, celery, and beef bullion.

I figure it comes out roughly to 1800-2000 calories a day.

That's with ephedrine during the day.

Anyway, let's get those abs showing! I can see where they are, I can see them kinda individually, but I can't see them totally yet.

For an OTC tanning aid(Which is quite good)

Take 2g L-Tyrosine/day

When tanning take the 2g 1hr before tanning.

L-tyrosine is a limiting factor in melanin synthesis.

Increased levels of tyrosine = increased melanin synthesis.

I just use an oil-free moisturizer after tanning to replenish
lost moisture.

One last question.

Do you think it's worth it for me to continue that 2 times per day regiment? Or should I take more time off?

It ends up being 32 sets of weights, 30 minutes cardio, and 800 situps daily.

About 3 hours in the gym. I can cut all that in half, but I'm not sure if I should. I can keep it up, it really doesn't bother me to do it...

Did another 2 rounds of the gym yesterday. Did one today. Today I really had to push myself, I was tired as all hell even though I slept a lot last night. Just one of those days I suppose.

Diets still easy, no problems at all. Tonight I'll be doing more cardio, but no more work outs. Cardio will be done in the form of a hockey game. Last game of the season for wednesdays...

Anyway, not much else to say, going to tan tomorrow after hitting the gym. Still too red today to tan.

One interesting note, I freakin hate stomach fat. It's not there when I stand up, but when I sit down, boom, it bubbles over. $*%&@*(#*@(#*(#*$ :fro:

Well, still going down. I think I'm still catching up from that cheat meal last weekend. I'm probably not going to do cheat meals at all anymore. Carb up days, yes, but not cheat meals. I can calculate my carb up days, so that's better for me. Also, I dig all the fat free stuff more than the stuff with fat anyway.

Gym was good today. Got 70lbs dumbell presses 7 times without having too many problems. That's the first time I've been able to do that since I broke my arm.

Did my 400 sets of abs, 15 minutes on the bike, and 16 sets of chest.

Fonz: I know it's over training, but I can't stand cardio. When I do weights, I just think I'm burning calories. The only way I can handle cardio is 15 minutes at a time, or sports (such as hockey).

Anyway, I wonder how Cuts is doing? Any updates for us Cuts?

I'm down 3lbs from last week (184 this morning)... which would be good BUT my strength is dropping almost every workout! I'm taking that to mean I'm losing muscle but fuck it. Putting on muscle to me is way easier than losing lard so I'm just gonna do like you're doing bro... keep dieting... and get lean like LEONARDO DI CAPRIO haha! Then I'll put on some lean mass and come out looking like Marky Mark back in the day...

These threads are great for inspiration. Cuts weighed 197.5 lbs on September 23rd, lost 13 pounds, and now weights 184 on November 8th. Great job cuts, and thanks to you and the others for great inspiration. Karma for all of you if I had enough.

Thanks bro... it's been tough eating like a bird for the past month or so, but it's worth it... looking much leaner, pants are fitting lose... I feel good :).

Had a badass AM workout+cardio session this morning. Going out of town for a couple weeks... gonna be a challenge to keep strict with my diet and workouts, but I'm gonna be resolute about it... looking forward to working out and doing cardio at new & different gyms every day, and although it's gonna be challenging to eat right, I'm gonna do it... and it's gonna make me even STRONGER!

Lost some more weight, but I don't think I drank quite as much before I went to the gym as I normally do. Today was a good tricept workout. Did my cardio, did my abs.

Diet is working like a charm. I eat the steak durnig the day, and at night I have a some chicken soup that I made. It's got cabbage, brocholli, green beans, and celery in it. With whole chicken breasts that have been cooking for about 6 hours so they just fall apart. Very good stuff, and all the veggies were fresh, not canned or frozen. I eat that twice daily.

So all in all, weekend coming up. I'm pleased with my progress, but still have a lot to go. I'm probably down to 33" waist, maybe even a little under it. I'm going to cheat again on thanksgiving, and then christmas, but other than that I figure I'll just keep this going. It's a pretty easy life style for me to work with.

Going to tan today, so maybe I'll look even better!

Glad to see you're still hooked in Cuts! I was worried a little before, but it sounds like you've got everything under control. :)

I haven't been on in a little while, was broadsided for a couple weeks by a very big weakness of mine. Damn women! Don't think I am going to go back to the diet though. Got a couple weeks before I want to throw a little lbm on. Wish I wasn't such a p$@#ywhipped fool, I was doing real well. Now hitting back into balance with it all. And listened to some Pantera on the way home from work to screw my head back on.

Gained some over the weekend, not concerned though because my diet was SUPER clean. I think it's just the fact I'm not doing ephedrine right now, so I'm holding a little more water. Also, I drank a TON before I went to the gym. Like 40 some odd ounces of tea, and about 4 cups of coffee. That's a lot more than I normally drink. :)

Anyway, diet is super easy, still doing steak, a few veggies now and again, and protein drinks only. Sometimes I'll throw in a chicken breast and eat that.

Workouts are good, took the weekend off of working out though. Just decided to catch up and spend some time with friends.

Did 16 sets of Biceps today, very easy, 10 minutes on the bike (rather than 15, damned batteries on my discman ran out so I got bored) and then 330 abs.

Will be going after work again, then I have a hockey game, so I'll burn a few more calories.

Tanning has been going well, I've got a nice little tan, but I'm a bit dry.

ABS - MUST HAVE ABS!

Figure I lost the water weight. I'm pretty sure that's what it is considering I woke up like 4 times last night to pee. That's annoying and ruined my freakin sleep. :)

Yesterday went to the gym again at night, then played hockey, so 3 workouts total. Was very nice, and keeps me motivated.

I went to the gym today for lunch, and my strength is still moving up it feels like. Next week I'm going to try to do 75lbs dumbell incline press. I did 70s today, and felt like I could do more. When I first started dieting, I was stuck at 55 lbs.

Did another 15 minutes of good cardio on the bike, then 400 sit ups. Good stuff.

Diets great, added some vegitables. I eat some cabbage, broccolli, and green beans. Usually with a chicken breast at night now rather than just steak. But I still do 3 servings of steak through out the day supplimented with 2 protein drinks.

Abs are starting to come in nicely. Now I'm just waiting for the thin skin thing.

I'm starting to hover around the same weight all the time. But I did drink a ton before I went to the gym again. I can't see me actually putting on weight at this time due to how much I'm working, and all the cardio I'm doing.

Diet is still about as clean as you can get. Had some veggies last night with my chicken soup. Added some no fat cheese that was very good to the soup.

Yesterday I tried coffee mixed with my protein powder. It would have been great, but the powder seemed to clump together. I could taste the cocoa from the protein, but the protein seemed to stick into tiny little balls at the bottom of the drink. It was pretty gross...

Anyway, I'm starting to get hard core addicted to iced coffee. It's so damned good.

Did tris today, going to do bis tonight. Had a rediculous pump today, felt awesome. Just could tell by the look of my tris, they pumped up like crazy... Not doing anything different either.

Watched fight club yesterday, I'm going to shoot for being as lean as Brad Pitt in that movie. I'm already bigger than him though muscle wise, so it should look good. I might throw some winny in for good measure for the hardness later next year though.

Did a refeed yesterday, so I gained a ton of weight that will drop over the weekend. I didn't really put much stock in my weight today.

Only going to work out once today, and take the rest of the day off. Hopefully get some done over the weekend. The diet today is tough since my stomach is stretched out. Hopefully I'll be able to last till monday when I start to take ephedrine again.

I'm not so pleased with my progress this week, not sure how much I actually made.
 
Man I just got back from my trip and I gained 5 lbs of pure blubber!!! I hate travelling!

O.k., I have 10 days to lose 5 lbs. I'm gonna do it.

You gotta be kidding. You would have to gorge yourself to gain that much pure fat in a few weeks. Some has gotta be water, so forget about it. It should be gone in a few days (hopefully).

Haven't done an update in a while, but things are still nicely on track. I'm going to keep moving on.

The diet is coming along well. I've done a couple of carb up days, and one night I thought that I was oging to cheat, but just ended up carbing up with no fat.

Losing a lot of weight, I know some of it's muscle, but I've also been getting a LOT of compliments lately. People even think I'm getting bigger because the cuts are finally there. I'm just going to keep dieting till next summer probably. Although through that time I'll ramp up the carbs to a decent level and just maintain or cut super slowly. Gotta work that leptin anyway.

Abs still aren't as noticeable as I'd like. But I figure that's the last place I'm going to lose from, so it's not that big a deal to me.

BTW, I don't know my fat percentage, but my waist measurement has gone from 37 to 31. My waist is now smaller than my freakin hips, which is WEIRD. But whatever works. :)

Only bad thing about this is I have to go out and buy new pants...
 
BTW, just for anyone who just wanders in on this thread and sees my progress, at this time I'm 11 weeks into the diet.

Like I said I got slightly off track when I went out of town, but I'm back with a vengeance now... past 3 days have been perfect... I think I've lost a couple lbs already... I will not stop until I have a 6-pack.

Well, this is the first update after the thanksgiving holiday. I feel I did OK, even though I did have 2 cheats and a carb up day.

Obviously thursday night I ate dinner, but didn't go way overboard. Felt I did really well. Friday night I had 4 pieces of pizza, which I also felt I did really well. Normally I'd eat a whole pizza on my own! And saturday I made my carb up day.

I know I'm a little less than 170 in all reality right now because I'm holding water and a little extra weight from the carb up still. But by the end of the week I think I'll know really where I stand.

My abs are in, and they're looking pretty darned good. My seam down the center of them is really deep, but you can still only see them in certain light. Frusterating, but something I can get past.

This weekend I went out with a friend, and she freaked out when she saw me. I ended up letting her take pictures of me in my boxers because she wanted to take it back to NY with her. That basically makes all the effort I've put into this worth it to me. :)

I'm going to keep dieting hard, I'm moving my meals over to Tuna and edimame. Tuna all day, and edimame at night. Work outs will remain the same. It's funny, I just looked at my before pictures, and scared the crap outta me. It's worth the effort. :)

Whadup bro... good job... the holiday feasts & well-meaning moms/aunts/grandmas trying to stuff our faces is a formidable challenge indeed, but it looks like we both came through Thanksgiving with flying colors!

Great how you shocked that chick with your level of rippedness :)... did you get to take your "friendship" to the next level with her? Tell her that to really appreciate your leaness she must see you naked.

Me I think I actually lost weight cuz my mom just recently started this new diet... all she eats is vegetables and meat... kinda like a healthy Atkins type diet. I always fear coming home b/c of all the crap that my parents unintentionally cook up, but I was pleasantly surprised this time to be eating tons of green organic veggies with eggs or turkey & chicken cooked in olive oil! Sure I had a slice (or two ;) of pumpkin pie, but no biggie, I think I did really well overall. Looking a little smaller but strength judging by my poundages in the gym is unchanged... I'm taking that to mean that I'm maintaining muscle pretty well.

Well, that's one potential lard gaining holiday down and 2 to go. I say we go hardcore till Christmas before we indulge again. Good job and keep it up!
 
This thread is very inspiring. I will be starting my cutting routine tomorrow and I would like to post up on this thread every few days in order to track my progress and stay motivated. My current stats are as follows: 205lbs at 12%bodyfat. My diet is a as follows: 1500-2000K/per day, fat 70-75%, protein 25-30%, carbs 0-no more than 20g per day. This is somewhat of a fat-fast ketogenic diet. H20 consumption will be between 2-3 gallons per day, with 3 being optimal. I will hit each muscle once per week with the weights, reps will be in the 5-10 range without going to failure. Cardio will be performed twice per day/every day. The first session will be first thing in the morning on a empty stomach for 45-60 minutes, and again in the evening for 45-60 minutes. I will be alternating between the lifecycle and the stepmill(gauntlet) I will perform this routine without deviation in terms of bith diet and exercise for 5 weeks, I will then take 1 week off from the weight training, although cardio will still be performed. During this recovery week I will use timed carb refeeds. I will then return to previously mentioned diet+ exercise routine for 4-5 more weeks. My goal is to reach 190lbs at 5% bodyfat.
 
7figureman, glad to have you with us. I was actually hoping we'd get more people in the thread, but so far it's just Cuts and I. Though we have had others in the past. :)

And Cuts, a quick answer. Yes, she saw me in all my glory. :) This was my friends sister that I was supposed to entertain while she was down here. I think she got quite a bit more entertainment than was expected.

I'll tell you one thing honestly though. This girl made me feel like a million bucks, she could not believe what I looked like. If this trend continues, I know everything I've worked so hard for is totally worth it. I felt so good it was rediculous.

Also, I found my ideal body image. It's Brad Pitt in fight club. Sure, he's not all that big, but damned he's ripped. I think I can manage that body type, but I'm going to be more muscular because of my past history with weights. I think it's what the girls like, and to be honest, that's one of the biggest reasons I'm doing all this. The other reason is self esteem, which kinda goes hand in hand with the women thing.
 
I'm in...started on Monday...let's get ripped. I was going to inlcude Fina in my cutting process..but have decided against it...I want to see what I can do naturally for this one.

Eating mostly protein...and healthy fats.

Meal 1: Cottage cheese and strawberries (low carb fruit, plenty of fiber) + 2 tbsp flax oil OR Whey Shake with 1% milk and flax oil

Meal 2: Chicken and veggies, diet coke

Meal 3: Cottage cheese (2 servings) + 6 slices of turkey breast

Meal 4: Chicken/steak/fish and veggies...flax seed oil\olive oil 2tbsp

Meal 5 post workout: Whey shake with 1% milk, 2 tbsp natural peanut butter

Meal 6: cottage cheese with strawberries

Too much cottage cheese but it's so convenient.

Meal 5 or 6 I sometimes substitute for 2 cans of tuna with cheese on top (microwaved). This is an awesome meal.

Going to carb-up on Friday night - Saturday night with:
Oatmeal in the morning
Potatos/yams with meal 2 and 4

The only cheat meal I'll have is a meat-lovers or pepparoni pizza on Friday night OR 1 small Dairy Queen blizzard lol...

I will be trying out r-ala low dose days 1-6 and higher dose for the carb up meals.

I'm going to try this for 8 weeks, and see what happens.

Workout Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun: heavy weights only
Hight intensity cardio (sprints): Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun mornings for 20-30 minutes. Since I workout in the evenings, this gives me about 12 hours between the cardio and the weights.

180 lbs not fat but some flab, could lose 10 lbs of fat to look nice (lightweight I know :(

My goal with this is to reset my insulin sensitivity and prime for all out bulking in February for 2 months).


Any comments very welcomed.

Still going down.

Yesterday I was a couple pounds less than this, but I was also drained of food and water. I drank quite a bit of water before I went to the gym, and I've also upped my protein intake. It was dropping significantly, and way too fast.

Just going to continue working out at the level I have been. Might relax a little on the diet, with the occasional carb here or there. As long as my calories remain in a deficit, I think I'll be ok at this point.

Yeah, I know that looks wrong. But if you saw my post earlier today, you'll understand where it is. A mix of water, food, and everything else just sitting in my stomach, intestines, and under my skin.

Yesterday ended up being really bad. Something that seemed like a simple good idea went horribly, horribly wrong. I figured why not just eat some Pho (vietnamese noodles) with some friends. Well, I ended up having 3 bowls. When I got home, I just couldn't stop eating. Had snickers, ice cream, no fat pudding. All that stuff.

Then when I got to work, I cleaned out my fridge here. 6 cans of pudding, 3 packets of instant oatmeal, and then about 6 bagels! With a whole bunch of water of course to wash it all down.

I don't think I've ever felt as rough as I do now. I'm extremely disappointed in myself, and I've got to change something up. I think my new diet was taking it too extreme. I have to remember that while it's important what you eat, it's more important how long you can stand eating it without losing your mind. I've noticed it's a little harder now that I'm leaner. Like my body is craving more or something. I know it's the holidays and all, but that's no excuse for me. If I want to cheat, I should plan it, not just lose my mind.

Anyway, I'm going back to eating steak. I can't handle the tuna. Too light. I'm going to eat steak, protein, and probably munch on celery all day long. I'd like to add some fruit, but that's carbs and calories that I need to save losing fat. I have till next summer to look like what I want, and I can't waste any time. Sometimes I think I look good, but other times I still look terrible. I wish I had a better self image, but that's life and I don't.

I've also been debating about dropping the cardio. I might drop it for a week, I get plenty through sports anyway. I can't stand cardio in a gym, it drives me crazy. So I think I might do away with it and just pull abs and weights. We'll see though. I might not stick to that, and do the cardio anyway. I just can't stand it.

Just wanted to give you guys warning, STAY ON TRACK. I fell hard, and now I've got to get back up.
 
Hey don't stick to only a few foods, it'll drive you crazy.

Shoot for a complete approach that you can maintain indefinitely, but vary the calories and manipulate the macronutrient ratios a bit depending on your goals (fatloss\muscle gain).

There are SOOO many different foods out there that will accomplish the same things....steak, ground beef, tuna, salmon, any fish!, chicken, turkey for protein

long grain rice, oatmeal, veggies, potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams for carbs

olive oil, EFAs, natural peanut butter...fats

You know all these...there are tons more...

It's possible to be eat to be lean all year round...and it shouldn't take a will off steel

Also, I would suggest dropping the 400 situps you do...that many won't do more good...and it'll only get boring quick. Do 15reps x 3sets on a weighted pull-down instead.

Hey it's the road there that's the most fulfilling (I keep telling myself that :)

Soex: don't sweat it bro... there's no way all that weight you gained is all fat... that's just impossible for one day of binging. So maybe you gained a couple lbs... big deal... I think your body needed a refeed the way you've been going at it hardcore for so long now. Hell if I take 2 steps forward and 1 back I'm happy... you you've been taking like 10 forward and 1 back!!! so I think you're still right on track. Don't stop till you're shredded. later

Well, I'm back on track. I had my company christmas party where I ate decent, but not too much on monday, then on tuesday had a sandwich and some breads in the morning due to our meeting at the hotel. So I'm now just getting rid of all that, but I don't feel guilty about it because I kept it reasonable.

I've moved on to a less strict diet, I realized I was kinda getting a little annorexic. I wouldn't eat since I liked the way my stomach felt when it was empty. My diet is now a chicket breast with a half cup of uncooked rice (obviously cook, I just measure uncooked). I do that 3 times daily and then at night I eat a meal of Edimame.

The protein is high, the carbs are at about 120, and the fats are low. So I think it's a pretty good balance. The calories should be deficited still, and I'm working out still.

I decided to do this so I don't get any smaller. I saw some pictures of myself, and I was burning myself to the bone. I think at this point I just need more nutrients and can shed the fat without the muscle. Before I just didn't care.

Oh, one last thing, when I get really hungry, I just eat some fruit or celery to tide the cravings. The good thing about this diet is I never feel like I need to cheat. And that means I can stay on it long term.

next time I weigh myself I'd better be 170-something...

just a matter of time now... I see a 6-pack in my future...
 
What's up guys? I was unable to start my cutting diet as scheduled due to work/travel constraints, however, starting on 12/17/02 I will be all business. I decided to alter the diet. The diet I will follow will consist of 4-5 meals of .5-.75lbs of red meat. The red meat will be either filet mignon or rib eye. With each meal I will take 1-2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. I will follow this meal plan without deviation for 4-5 weeks. I will than take a 1 week break allowing for recovery. During this 1 week break I will only perform cardiovascular exercise along wtih timed carb refeeds. I will than return to the cutting diet for another 4-5 weeks. My exercise routine will be as previously mentioned, however, I will not eat between my evening and morning cardio workouts. The morning cardio will be performed on an empty stomach. Also, beginning the week of 12/23 I will be adding skiing to my routine. I will ski 2-3 days every week throughout winter and into spring. I usually ski for 7-8 hours per session, so this should burn up a considerable amount of calories.

As of 12/16: bodyweight=205lbs bodyfat=12%
Goal: 190lbs at 5% bodyfat

Also, for anyone who wants to eat steak 4-5 X per day, consider investing in a GE Advantium. I have one at my residence as well as my office. The Advantium is a state of the art microwave/oven. It allows you to cook steak as well as many other types of food. I am able to cook steak with minimal hassle and time. Also the taste is awesome. Good luck guys and I will give updates every few days or so. Also, I forgot to mention, H20 consumption will be at 2-3 gallons per day, with 3 being optimal.

Still going down, liking this diet a lot better. I've taken out the cardio, added some weighted abs, and am just working out a lot more intensely, but not as often. I'm only going 1 time per day rather than 2. It was starting to wear me down a little always going to the gym.

Things are progressing, and I'll keep working. Hope everything is going well with you cuts and 7figureman.
 
Shit SOEX... I'm trying to catch up with you but you just keep DROPPING the lbs! I'm down to 181.5 as of yesterday... lost a lb in 3 days... looking much leaner AND, parodoxically, more muscular... pants fitting much better...

7figureman: your diet sounds hardcore... if you can stick to it, I'm sure you'll shed the blubber fast

I've decided that I'm gonna enter the 2003 BFL Challenge starting on January 6th. I've done it before but never finished the entire 12 weeks. This time everyone that finishes and turns in their entry packet gets $250 worth of EAS supplements free! Good enough incentive for me :)...

Well, thankfully christmas is over. I didn't do too badly, but I did over eat for about 3 days. Now it's back to the diet and the workouts. I'm figuring I put on some water, and maybe a couple of pounds. I'm still dropping fairly quickly, so I think it's water at the moment. I'm hoping to be back where I was by New Years, and I think I probably will be.

Still doing chicken and rice, and edimame. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. My mental state stays normal, I don't get killer cravings like I used to, and I am much stronger and fuller at the gym. Everyone that I've talked to recently is so suprised at how I'm dropping fat and getting leaner. I think I have a warped body image because I keep wanting to get leaner. I'm going to get a hydrostatic body fat test coming up next month, so I'll let you guys know the results.

BTW, I'm fitting into 30" waist jeans now. :) I used to be a 37" waist.

Wow... back from the dead :).

I'm still dieting, albeit not as stringently. Although my weight is back up to about 185, my bf% has dropped about 6% since I began. I need to kick it into high gear now... spring is right around the corner here in beautfiul Chicago :)...
