Its so overrated... its such a case of the emperors clothes...

I hear all these spoilt low self esteem kids brag for hours about their 500 dollar snowboard boots and what kind of new wax they got for their alpine board... Most of them can barely go down a decent slope staying up.

all these websites promote the items like they are the epitome of contemporary science and technology....

Its all BS, right?

They say your feet hurt in more normally priced gear... I dont buy it. your feet hurt when you suck at boarding. I think its all crap. The only upgrade id actually say Id like if id spend more money would be weight reduction... but my stuff is fairly light as is.

Maybe if youd live in Austria and board several times a week all winter every winter... but we from Holland tend to go say 1 or 2 weeks a year if we go.

ive gone all the way from starting out with garbage second hand skis to being sponsored... equipment definitly plays a part, but only to a degree... it really comes down to if you suck, then you're gonna hurt.

i just started boarding this year. i got a used board and new boots when on sale. my problem came at bindings i couldnt find shit to fit my boots. i wound up with some expensive bindings due to this. i say i suck but i have lots of fun, my friend whos been boarding for years says i am doing great for only a few times. i can make quite a few runs without fallling and weaving around those who fell. but i live on easter US so i hear its a crapy place to board anyhow:(

i rode for a few shops here and there... i don't really get what you're arguing but i will say one thing... spend as much as you can on boots... then go from there. Comfort and non slipping heels are absolutely crucial to good riding...

i consider myself pretty good at snowboarding. i have a pro deal with burton so i got a great deal with them. ride custom 158, ion HDs, and P1-mds.

I am pretty decent at snowboarding for a girl, I don't just fall on my ass like most people,

I have attempted tricks, I could grab and do 180's when I was really into it, but that was a few years ago when I worked at a hotel resort and got free lift tickets, now Im lucky if I go twice a year

i ride almost the exact same setup as u... cept for I hate the p1's... i have the team mission dooms... trading up for the new team missions w/ diff backs

Boots make the biggest difference in comfort, them comes bindings. Whenever I sell a board I tell the customer to spend more for the better boots. After a cretain point they're all pretty much the same, but anything under $100-150 is crap.
