Okay...

so im getting back into sports.. i played a while yesterday and knew i had no stamina at all i got tired really fast... whats the best way to get your stamina back.. improve your endurance and strength...and ive read on the internet that normal weight training isnt for a soccer athelete?
my family revolves around soccer..ive got cousins that play and im getting back into it again..

20 reps squats aka widowmakers

20 reps breathing pullovers

20 reps deadlifts with the heaviest dumbells you can find (no straps)

Then go for barbell or kettlebell complexes which are basically circuits.

Keep a bucket by your size for obvious reasons.

After 2 months you will be a beast.

What SaiBot said. And instead of the 3 min break between sets, you get 30 sec. Make each exercise a "station" and take 30 sec rest between exercises, and 2 min after each circuit.

What sports are you getting back into?

If the sport you are playing involves running/jogging/sprinting, aka soccer. Then you must train by running and sprinting.

Not to take anything away from DB and kettle bell complexes, they are great. But they will not get you in sprint shape. Not even close.

Pushing Iron for the Gridiron Try this program. It will have you on the track twice per week, and in the gym 4 times per week. The track workouts start fairly slow and build up. If you follow this program by the end of the 12 weeks, I would bet you feel like the best athlete of your life.

Heck, if you don't want to follow the weight training program, just do the track program. It's designed for football players, so it has a ton of sprint work. One day of the week is all about sprinting, while the other has more distance. Should work great for soccer players too, well, pretty much any sport.

Don't forget about food while doing this because if you do it will really slow down progress. I wouldn't worry so much about weights unless your doing very high reps. I would probably go heavy one day a week or maybe 2, but don't go to failure.

You can do this in a circuit also. Sled drag followed by 2 min. running or on the treadmill, drag followed by calisthenics like push ups, medicine ball, slams, leg raises, planks, whatever. This tool is becoming commonplace in many sports for general conditioning.

If i had access to a sled, tires, yoke, well basically strongman tools I would do those HIIT style like you recommended instead of conventional weightlifting.

bigpimpin soccer it's mostly a form of irregular HIIT because you are changing speeds through the game and sometimes you are stopped. So steady pace jogging it's out of the question.

Hmm, come to think of it then, the best way would be to play scrimmage games. Five a side on a short field for instance. That way you'd always be in the game. Good thing you come from a family that plays, Bigpimpin. You'll just have to put up with their sarcasm until you can hold your own. :)
