I just bought the Razor. It is really nice plus I can integrate with my new Maxima I just bought today.

The camera is pretty awesome too.

the only thing i didnt like was theres no flash on the fucking thing!!

I took some low light pictures and they turned out pretty good. You can also do like a 15-20 second video with it.

I haven't learned everything about it yet. The manual is about an inch thick so there is a lot more I need to learn.

I will setting it up for voice commands and integrating it into my car so I know that will taek some time.

buy a pocketpc from Imate and then get 1-view, its like a handheld computer, a small pc with broadband internet over the cellphone towers, internal wifi modem, all maps, voice commanded contacts with microsoft outlook, bluetooth. Dont buy an IPOD, you can communicate with all of your computers and files and MP3s making it into an IPOD on steroids.
Comes loaded with Skype software meaning you could call me on Skype through a pc connection with better sound and has nothing to do with your minutes.
I could go on. Its an upfront investment, but, the shit is hardcore as to what it can do. Its windows partnership worldwide. You can get similar phones "locked" for cheaper but they limit the real cool shit that it can do b/c it would eat into monthly charges by the cell company

What carrier are you with? Cingular or T-Mobile? I guess it doesn't matter because if you find a phone you like that's not offered by your carrier you can have it unlocked and use it (but you'd have to buy it outright, you wouldn't get the same rebate you would on a hardware upgrade with your own carrier)

depends on the phone and if you get like gsm/gprs with a pocket pc. Different technology for verizon vs. cingular and tmobile vs qwest

Unlocking a locked phone is dumb in pocketpc world b/c they limit the software's capability in the US market. Best to buy an unlocked phone overseas which is fully functional.

Grand, there are many ways to use a good pocketpc/phone, especially bluetooth, the stuff is on your belt, voice activated phone calls etc... its not a big deal

yes Jaded im with Rogers! lol

Hahaha, yep the good ol Chinese mall... ;)

Whatever phone you get, though, make sure it has the 850 band. A number of the phones they sell there are made for the Asian/European market and have the 900 band but not the 850 band (in Europe they use the 900/1900 bands and in North America they use the 850/1900 band). If it has the 1900 band it is still usable here, but without the 850 band you'll probably find your reception (especially in buildings) much poorer...

lol, Not in North America, different frequencies, quad band is marketed using two GSM frequencies than the rest of the world which is marketing BS. Aww, screw how they scam people. Buy domestically in N. America, its your best bet lol

if i knew wtf you were talking about! :)

:lmao:

GSM carriers in North America use different frequencies than GSM carriers in Europe and Asia. The frequencies used in North America are 850 and 1900. In Europe and Asia the frequencies used at 900/1800. That means if the phone you purchase doesn't have the 850 and 1900 bands, you won't be able to use it in North America.

Tri-band = has 3 of the 4 bands. Usualy 900/1800/1900
Quad-band = 4 bands, 850/900/1800/1900

Rogers uses both the 850 and the 1900 frequencies so you should get a phone that is capable of using both frequencies (better reception/coverage)

(A quadband phone is really only necessary if you're going to be travelling outside of North America. If youre not, you don't need the extra 2 bands because you can't use then here in NA anyway.)

I got the razor. Really like it. has a lot of features and some pretty cool ringtones. The game graphics are the best ive seen on a phone. Good pics and you can do streaming pics too with sound. That's only the stuff I use. There's alot more it's capable of. Also comes with the newest Bluetooth.

I just bought this car today and it has the BlueTooth technology built in to it so I can use the Razor with it. Can't wait to set it up.

Then if you arent travelling outside of your country?? Why buy an unlocked phone with modified software for your market preventing you from using skype through broadband technology and unlimited data transfer signups??

Just go with a locked phone and get their tech support. Try getting support for an unlocked phone through your cellphone provider. THere are good reasons to get an unlocked phone, good reasons not to.

Buying a cellphone in North America is beyond BEYOND retarded b/c they limit the software in the market. Buying an international unlocked phone through celluloco.com or others allows you to take a cellphone, hookup as if it were a VOIP IM messaging service and not use any minutes at all. Hence, if you talk alot, you only need a 500minute plan costing less monthly fees than a 1500minute plan on a domestic purchased unlocked phone with limited software.
For instance, I can purchase and sx-66 siemens phone or an audiovox phone. They have limited functionability as far as programs that you can use on it including VOIP technology, spent a coupla hundred dollars more on a Dubai Imate, get 1-view using gprs and you can access all MP3 files that you own through cellphone. Meaning no need to have an ipod, you can watch tv, dvds etc on your screen. No need for memory cards, multiple devices etc.... Quad band btw is mismarketed in N. America

Its about being smart about your digital life

When'd you get the T720? Must've been quite some time ago.
You might be able to do a hardware upgrade with Rogers and get your new phone with a rebate (you'll have to resign your contact, though)

(call rogers and see if you're eligible for a Hardware Upgrade)

DAMNIT! now i cant Decide!

i spoke to a very plesant lovely girls from Rogers like 10mins ago... and she explaind alot to me ( musta been Jaded!!!) lol and i cant decide between the 2 phones i was looking at! she told me they were the 2 best ones out rogers has right now

its either the Motorola Razr
Or the Motorola V635i.

both have what i like and am looking for ... with exceptions to the razar not having a flash on the phone... but they all kinda suck anyway when its time for a pic

Well, the v635 has a better camera than the Razr. v635's camera is 1.23 megapixels (I believe) and the Razr's camera is a VGA (0.3 MP). With the v635 you can get an expansion card if you want/need more memory, whereas the Razr doesn't have that option. I don't know if you use the mobile browser on the phone or not but the v635 has EDGE for faster data transfer. Features-wise, the v635 is probably the better phone - megapixel camera, expandable memory, music player, and EDGE.

I think the v635 may be the better choice, but if you can't make up your mind I'd see what Rogers return/exchange policy is and try out both and see which one you prefer. :)
