I liked the movie (Elektra) but I also read comic books as a kid.

Not really. There was a small scene in Elektra where they flashback to when she was wounded in Daredevil.

Exactly.

The key is Elektra died in Daredevil as did her father and from Daredevil you would know that her mother died when she was a child which makes the reflection and paralell story line in the Elektra movie interesting.

Again you would probably need to like that series of comic books and all the characters.
