Elbow problems

Just got back from teh Doc. He shot me full of cortizone. He said I have medial epicondylitis?? the opposite of tennis elbow. It's on the inside and hurts like hell when I do cable flys for chest.

What lift am I doing wrong that would injure this?

Also does cortizone make you more prone to the same injury later on? I've heard mixed feelings about getting these shots.

DOc gave me Ultrams
looks like acetaminophen is the main ingredient.

What type of pain pills are these? they are week I'll tell you that. The doc moved that big ass needle around in my elbow. He was grabbing my funny bone and telling me to be still at the same time.

Repeated cortisone shots can cause detioration of the bone in that area. But I have also seen where people have had allergic reactions to them and had an immediate problem after just one shot.

I had several in my shoulder before they finaly did surgery, with no ill effects.

What a dick. I have found Ultrams to be some pretty good shit though.

Pretty much anything he gives you is going to be denatured with Acetamenophen to prevent abuse (taking a bunch) though.

Just so you know the upper limit for acetamenophen per day is abotu 5 grams per day. So you can increase your dosage up to that level. And don't even THINK about drinking.

are they like asprin? that's what I'm getting at drinking. I take it they aren't like loratabs?

What exactly is cortizone?

Here is the definition of cortisone. Basically, it is an ant-inflammatory.

Cortisone is a synthetic steroid that is used as a replacement therapy in adrenocortical deficiency states. The powerful steroid is also useful for its potent anti-inflammatory effects in disorders of many organ systems. Cortisone therapy suppresses the output of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) from the pituitary gland and this in turn suppresses the adrenal cortex. This allows a control of excessive androgen secretion. Corticosteroids are marketed under about 200 trade names. Side effects include increased appetite, indigestion, nervousness, restlessness, and trouble in sleeping.

Karma to you. Most people I've spoke with say it is way out dated and I shouldn't go back for another.

What lift could I be doing wrong that caused this? It's been off and on for 6 months.

I would look at something that you do repeatedly, like at work or something.

What type of work do you do?

Is there any repetitive motion involved?

I don't do much of anything really. I get the mail every morning..

I'm just about to graduate so I'm taking the summer off and just lifting and wakeboarding.

Unless you play golf then I don't know what could be causing it.

Maybe change the way you are getting the mail out of the box. j/k :D

It's gotta be from lifting.

Anyone know if it is safe to have a few beers on Ultrams?

Bro,

acetamenophen (Tylenol) affects your liver in a pretty significant way. Do not drink while you are on that shit.

They intnetionally put lots of tylenol in pain medications so you won't go crazy and take a bunch.

Still, there are thousands of cases of acetamenophen poisinings every year.
